ChipLieder85 Leads the Way to Melbourne by Seth Shafer
Dec 16, 2008The past weekend at PokerRoom.com would be the last chance for players to grab a spot on the bwin Team roster for the 2009 Aussie Millions, with online finals running on Saturday and Sunday and the Big Bounty on Sunday as well.
Saturday’s online finals drew 49 runners, and featured the normal tough field one has come to expect, with accomplished players such as Speedzebre, PLWashy, whassup x, Gutenburg1, soerenjena, greatprducer, MickeMusxxx, bigbalu67, and Bumi3 in the field.
soerenjena was leading the way at the first break, with furbo3 assuming the lead at the second stoppage. With the field down to five players, here’s what the standings looked like:
Seat 1: ChipLieder85 ($64,718 in chips)
Seat 2: trut1 ($29,658 in chips)
Seat 3: 010peter ($74,089 in chips)
Seat 4: pyramide333 ($49,825 in chips)
Seat 10: PLheniek ($26,710 in chips)
PLheniek would finish in 5th when he was short-stacked and forced to shove pre-flop with As Jd. He was called in two places (by 010peter and pyramide333) and 010peter ’s 9c 9d held up to eliminate PLheniek.
010peter would be the next to go, exiting in 4th when he eventually was short-stacked himself and forced to shove with Jc 8h but ran into trut1’s pocket tens. With 010peter’s elimination, just three players remained, all chasing the $18,000 Aussie Millions trip package:
Seat 1: ChipLieder85 ($96,718 in chips)
Seat 2: trut1 ($47,437 in chips)
Seat 4: pyramide333 ($100,845 in chips)
pyramide333 would bow out in 3rd ($978 + an online finals ticket) when his pocket kings fell to ChipLieder85’s rivered straight, with pyramide333 slowplaying his big pocket pair and checking the flop and turn, giving ChipLieder85 the free cards he needed to hit his straight.

Seat 2: trut1 ($113,374 in chips)
The end came quickly, with ChipLieder85 holding a slight lead and all of the chips going into the middle before the flop. ChipLieder85 had the best of it with Ad Ks versus trut1’s Ac 8d, and ChipLider85’s hand held up, giving him the hand, the victory, and the $18,000 trip package to the 2009 Aussie Millions, with trut1 collecting $2,282 + an online finals ticket for his runner up finish.
