OK, that was just hilarious... When I read the headline I was expecting two wrestlers... You nearly made me snarf beer all over my computer...

And I know it was a rhetorical question, but I have to point out that Plato was 40 years younger then Socrates, so he wouldn't stand a chance...

An excellent point, especially given the average life expectancy of a man during that age. I bet he couldn't even do a atomic drop, a pile driver or even a decent bull dog.

I gotta go with Plato. The student always surpasses the the teacher eventually, and we know he was beer drinker (which makes him more likely to have fighting experience.) Though, Socrates did kick some*ass*in Bill and Ted's excellent adventure...

I've gotta go with Socrates for a few reasons: 1. Socrates was a soldier, he fought in the Peloponnesian war. 2. Socrates was like the father (and master), Plato the Son. Fathers always win (I'm assuming they're both in their prime here). 3. Socrates invented the style, plato just used it.

I'm gonna have to disagree here with wjoel, here on this simple fact. Plato wrote the dialogues. Socrates just talked a lot. He was probably Intel or Supply. I mean, Plato copied all that stuff down while Socrates just told people how to live. Plato had discipline while Socrates had opinions.
When it comes down to it, Socrates would have been standing there, taking the cross-body block, bouncing off the ropes SCREAMING LIKE A LITTLE GIRL "Plato SHOULD YOU BE DOING THIS TO ME?". I think the answer is, invariably, yes. If one finds oneself in the squared circle...one must sling the other guy off the ropes. And who's the man that's gonna do that of these two? Plato.

If Socrates was supply, then Plato was a typist. They both had their philosophies, but Socrates simply took it straight to the people. Why write it down when your legacy will last forever anyway?

His legacy would have been a footnote if not for the Dialogues. And do you have ANY IDEA how heavy a typewriter would be from that era? Plato would have been built like a bomb shelter.

I'm going with Plato - why you ask?

Let's look at a modern equivalent:

Apparently I can't write the C word when referring to fecal matter.

Anyway, did not Luke beat up on Vader? I rest my case.
