Ive been playing a lot of SnG's the past few days, doing well...however time and time again ill push with KQs...QJs...and im losing to A3os...A8os and sometimes the guys are calling a 2 or 3k all in and they only have say a similar stack...Sometimes its still 6-7+ handed...am i missing the secret of the weak OS ace in SnG play?
They are either playing unprofitable poker or they know what you are willing to push with. If its that they will just call down with any ace, remember to take advantage of them next time, as they are not very strong players. That being said, you shouldn't be pushing preflop with KQ with 6-7 players left unless you are shortstacked or the blinds are getting real big. Anyone that calls you will be ahead in the hand.
To answer your question directly. Yes you are missing it. A lot of people play Ace-rag in the SnG games, and at pretty much all levels below $30+$3 buy-in. My advice is to always assume that at least one person at the table has been dealt Ace-rag and is tempted to call your 5xBB preflop bet on account of your KK pockets.
It is actually something that pays you off in the long run, but takes some getting used to. We all know the odds of success aren't in favour of Ace-rag, but so long as they don't, the world is a better place.
KQs isnt that fair behind A3o is it? Nearly a coin flip. Sometimes its not a bad strategy in certain circumstances to push hard with a coinflip, as long as ur pushing with it not calling it.
make sure your pushing it, not callin it. But im sure you knew that already. If you push with A rag, it is likely you will be dominated by a bigger A. You can still be dominated if u have KQ, but going all in with A3 isnt something i would recommend
KQ is an excellant shortstack hand but you want 1st in vigorish. I like it batter than A rag as you can hit either card and still win. I try not to play large pots early in a SNG and only put all my money in with top hands. I wouldn't take a chance with that many left but would try it with the mini bubble as alot of players don't want to finish out of the money. Again I wouldn't put all my chips at risk, why not see a flop. You can usually outplay the fish after the flop.

Things like this can always happen. Oh, by the way. Im pockett logged on in my friends account. I need serious help with SNGs. I have had many many 4th and 5th places. I have no problem getting about 3000 stack when there is 5 people left. but the blinds are always high and i am just missing something. I cant get past 4th place!
