My membership in the never fold Kowboys preflop has been revoked. I folded last night for the first time ever.
I'm playing 25NL and raise it to $1 from the CO. SB calls and BB miniraises to $1.75. I 3 bet to $5, SB folds, BB pushes, and I muck. A couple factors involved in my decision. First, this betting pattern. A miniraise and then a push to the big raise. Could be AK or another KK, of course, but this just smelled bad. Second, I hadn't noticed this player doing a lot of raising preflop, though a lot of limping. I was three tabling, so read not as great as one would like. I just didn't feel good about this situation, so I folded.
A few nights prior with KK, I got stacked by AA in a similar situation. I raise, get miniraised, push and the miniraiser calls me with AA. Last night's situation was eerily similar. I'm not saying I fold to this betting pattern every time in the future, but combined with my read on this player it added up to a fold. Player didn't show, so I've no idea if this was a brilliant fold or a bad one.
Congrats geis. Perhaps one day i will join you in revoking my membership. I have had the feeling you described many times, although i have never been able to fold it.
