Not sure I played these correctly, so let me know what you guys think. There both from the 50NL game at Bodog.
Hand #1 QQ I have $42 stack and SB covers. One limper, guy to my right miniraises and I raise it up to $4 in the CO. SB calls, limper folds, miniraiser calls.
Flop: 589 rainbow (pot $13) They check to me and I bet $13, SB miniraises to $26, and other guy folds. I decide this is either push or fold, as calling pot commits me. Not much of a read on SB's playing style, yet. I push. Thoughts?
Hand #2 TT Villian has $39 and I cover. I raise to $2 utg, Villian calls along w/ BB and one other. Villian's calling range here does not include hands like A4 or A6, probably not suited connectors either. High probability of a pp.
Flop: 664 rainbow (pot $8) BB checks and I bet $6, Villian is only caller. Somewhat worried about a possible 44 for him at this point.
Turn: 4 (pot $20) I decide to check raise as I no longer think he has 44. He bets $5, I push. Thoughts?
Same as Pockett. I really don't like pushing on the first hand. Even if you are ahead, you're probably only a 3:2 fave... not much risk premium there. Second hand is behaving like he's behind but it's also a tailor-made spot for a slowplay of a boat or trips. I wouldn't go crazy and would just call. For some reason, I'm smelling JJ or another higher PP for him.
Both hands I ran into KK. I'm in agreement with you guys on hand #1. Miniraise usually = monster. My thought at the time was that I was up against a pair and gut shot draw, but I'm just not that big of a fav there, so looks like I need to fold it.
Hand #2 I think the guy just played it strangely. Well, I'd say just calling with KK preflop for both of them is a bit strange, and perhaps that is what threw me off. The small bet on the turn, though, is also kind of strange. I don't think there is any need to push on hand #2. If I'm ahead, most of the pp I beat are folding. I'm thinking now that a smaller c/r would have gotten the job done in that spot if I want to take the hand down right there. Alternatively, I could just lead the turn for half pot or so and fold to a raise. I'm guessing he just calls here, given his previous play, then makes a small bet on the river if I check. Probably lose less that way.
On the second you ran into a trapping player. The question to ask is: did I show him something that made that course acceptable or is he just prone to those kinds of moves.
You've got me on how it is translated. Having seen how bad the online translation stuff work, I guess they might run it through and a German speaker then makes it less silly.
