That's probably more faith than I would have in ace-high. If I didn't take it down before the turn, I put him on KQ or something and the gig is up,

Since you lot have been kicked out, the tables have turned very tight, and many pots don't even see the flop, one raise and every one is out.
I tried to outplay him and finished up out playing myself, I should have checked the river, but then what would I have done if he bet?

i dunno, you read it as a steal and you were right. What about reraising his steal preflop? Maybe that will stop him from stealing next time?
You could always check-raise on the flop after u have reraised preflop.

Other than that, if you knew he was wea then i reckon you did the right thing in betting into him (permitting you believe he will fold)

Kinda looks like he was praying for the four-flush and decided to see your hand for the buck and that he might be accidentally seeing a bluff and get lucky. It isn't really that horrid a move at the river. Not saying any of it was smart. If he'd re-raised with the betting at .50, he'd have gotten the pot or maybe got you to check down on the turn/river. One nice thing: you'll probably get more middle pairs calling down your top pairs etc. happy

But, your best bet is to pay no attention to my post. I am an admitted limit donkey. But, what little I've played of it doesn't make it seem all that unusual. Seems a lot of folks will 3-bet or cap the half-size betting with next to nothing for a draw.

I have found it very easy to steal the blinds at a tight table in limit. You simply raise and they fold, or call to see the flop. i will instant raise often on the flop and take it down from the blind defender. this type of play buys me alot of equity with my monsters later on as they know i'm gonna push with position.
