I had to check and YES, AP is still regulated by the Kahnawake GC.

The people seen in that footage are probably the same who made the testimonials to that site.

It looks like all's well now and it's very safe to play there.

Our money is in the good hands of Chief Norton and the rest of his Mohawk tribesmen.

I enjoyed it on many levels milt.

1)was interesting to put some 'names to faeces'

2)Loved the booking of the presenter and the constant reminder that she was 'former presenter of CBS weather and traffic reports' or something wink and as such lent a level of gravitas and serious investigitive journalism credentials.(ie:every respected presenter/journo has turned it down, but the old slapper who CBS fired for rampant alcoholism said she'd do it 4 2k)

3)The lighting cameraman wants shooting and should stick to wedding photography stills.

4)The fact that not only had it been scripted but had obviously been rehearsed by both parties before shooting, right down to camera direction, esp in parts of the script where the legal advice had been to be particularly specific in wording.

5)The constant re-iteration of the dates relating to the purchase of the sites(15times?)and the date that the interviewee joined the company(Im the new broom very_happy )but fantastically vague about areas that may be a little shady(the holding company that held the sites for a year when still partowned by previous interested parties)

6)The speed of delivery when answering in areas of possible difficulty(joes role in the tribal community, the role in the commision etc)speedy, word perfect and therefore 'nothing to see here, and besides, this area is uncomfortable.

7.Whatever Annie Dukes motivation for her input, she is still strangely attractive in a youngish Diane Keaton sort of way.In the event of any wrongdoing on her part coming to light at a later date, you can rest assured milt,i would be more than happy to have her under house arrest right here .

Im not sure when it was filmed but it shows all the hallmarks of a rushed attempt at spiking the 60minutes episode (it was originally due to go out earlier than sunday i believe?)probably after seeing a cut of the programme maybe, and as such probably is a good indicator of the lines of enquiry and points that 60mins will contain.

That was an extaordinary accurate analyses of the said footage.

It was a strange concoction of total and utter bollox. As for the quality of the actors, lightning, setting etc. I have nothing to add to your findings. Of course the relentless pounding from the interviewer that we are talking about onlines' most popular sites sticks out.

It is a good indicator of what we may expect from 60 mins. No doubt, they have seen it and they know what's coming.

This footage is a definite keeper and I will put it on the shelf a little to the right of:

The "Colin Powell" interview where he produced the cardboard downsized muck-ups of Iraqs mobile trucks capable of launching weapons of mass-destruction.
These pieces of cardboard were evidence enough to go to war.

The Bill Clinton "I did not have sex with that woman" statement ultimately resulting in his efforts to trying to educate the world by stating and making us believe:

"Oral sex isn't sex"

I know, there is still a lack of consensus regarding this very_happy

Next to the "Mark Seif" interview where he states, nothing fishy here and describes "AJ Green" as "free spirit".

Asolutely Prilliant

I surely hope we will be able to add new names to the already long list of faeces in the near future.

Interesting interview. The part that concerned me (alot) was that i did not get the sense these 'actors' believed what they were saying. I know, that probably seems 'moot', but i was left feeling very uninspired by them, thats for sure!

Its funny they refer to cereus as a 'network'. I presume this means, they are so confident about their security software now, that they are about to embark upon a skin uptake ala ongame?, and give ongame a 'cerius' run for its money happy

As usual, i think the 'answer' is somewhere inbetween. Ongame can learn alot by this, making security a priority, but i have a feeling that cerius may have gone too far. Collusion tracking software is rubbish imo, and should be trashed. It simply nets too many innocents. Once you have a black mark on your name, it can affect your entire poker career, and put serious poker pros' future affiliation contracts into jeopordy. How would YOU feel, if you won wsop fair and square, only to acquire a black mark on your name the year after, for no good reason? Poker pros with clean records r a dime a dozen. You could go from hero, to zero, just like that.

As ive said many times, people should NEVER be judged on the circumstances of one hand (generally). Its all about using software in the mtts to pick up accounts that play together, which profit together. Trying to crack down on ring games is just stupid. There is a REASON ppl choose to turn ring pros, and thats so they can play against other great ring players. Basically, all ppl need to do is play the 'regulars' and theyll hav very little to worry about. Even LESS to worry about, if they play rings live happy

I'll bet cerius has gone too far with their security, and theyll be tied up in beurocaracy and crash faster than ongame might crash.

That interview really showed a lack of confidence, it was full of nerve racking uncertainty and tense anticipation. Very melancholy. I would never play there. I do just fine on private sites, with no views for network expansion.

Ongame will need to step up security soon, or face extinction. Infact, if there was any network incompetant enough to bring the whole online poker industry down, it is actually ongame. Thats why i, and many others keep at them. And without a forum, there is simply no point in being associated to bwin, coz theyll b lose.

I can't bring myself to watch the corporate vids, and my security settings stop me watching the clips. If the whole show goes up on CBS I'll change my settings.

Incidentally, although the show is 60 Minutes, they have three stories, and of course there's the adverts. If you have watched five minutes of clips, you have probably seen more than a quarter of the story.

Nat Arem has been given a memo circulating at UB.

From Nat Arem's blog, link here. There's a lot more of it if you check out the link.

This is an Ultimate Bet memo that was sent out today to employees. It was titled “Re: 60 Minutes Television Program” and it came from the desk of Paul Leggett, the COO. It was forwarded to me by a UB employee.

Here are the contents of the memo:

As you know from previous communications from me, the CBS television show 60 Minutes is preparing a program on recent events involving Absolute Poker and UltimateBet; and on online poker in general. According to the CBS 60 Minutes email alert, the program will air this Sunday, November 30th. We have every reason to believe that the 60 Minutes producers are intent on portraying the online poker industry and our companies in a negative light, and we do not expect that the program will be either fair or balanced.

Because of 60 Minutes’ apparent bias against Tokwiro and online poker, we have decided not to appear on camera. We have, however, had many conversations with the program’s producers. We provided them with extensive background materials and documents, and we answered questions on-the-record, but off-camera. Despite all this, it is not likely that our views will be properly represented.

Anyway, having read amh's description of the corp vid twice, I feel like I have watched it anyway. 'Names to faeces' is particularly good.

And yes, the 60 Mins piece was to be shown earlier, but it had to be shelved because of something totally unpredictable happening - a presidential election. very_happy

There's a piece in yesterday's Washington Post here, but you have to create an account to read it, and I haven't. There are some links to other stuff, but my security settings won't let me go there.

Apparently there will be another piece on Monday, which I also probably won't read. mad

2+2 is cautiously pleased with the WP article. There are lots of extra little bits (in the links I can't use angry) which are pretty good. There are some errors, though. In particular, they talk about Potripper's chip winnings in the big tourney HU with Crazy Marco as if it is cash winnings.

Still, since this investigation was a cooperation between the WP and 60 Minutes, the generally good WP piece suggests that tonight's 60 Minutes show will not be as bad for online poker in the US as many had feareed.
