chip leading

Jan 17, 2008 02:34 PM. Post 1
hi,

on a full table i oten manage to become the chipleader after about 1/2 of the game. lets say 6 people are left on the table, i am the chipleader, the blinds are growing and growing (100/200).

mostly i cannot manage to keep leading those chips.
either i try to stay out of weak hands and get blinded away
or i try to keep the other fellows under pressure, play medium strenght hands, and lose hand after hand to the others or simply have to fold to a high bet after the flop.

both ways don't seem to work out for me. got suggestions?
thanks!

My question would be, how did you become chip leader? That strategy seems to be working for you so why not continue? Also, put pressure on the medium stacks, because they are the ones who don't want to be put to the test, and always do it when you have position on them. Smaller stacks, the smarter ones at least will be looking for confrontations to double up and only tangle with other big stacks with position because they don't want to lose their chips either.

Position will prove to be key because when you put pressure on people, you can always act last and determine your own course.

Of course I can't win a race right now, so my confidence is dropping.

And remember, Osterreich uber alles!!!!

happy thank you. sounds good to me. i will try to use the info.

i cannot continue to play the same strategy because this means i play not too many hands and this thing doesn't work when the blinds get too high. but the medium stack - position - strategy sounds very helpful. thanks!

I actually think you should stick with the strategy you got the chip lead with. Don't forget that is you are leading and blinds get to you, it will most likely affect the lower stacks more. You can play your way but take the blinds in the dealer or before dealer positions if everybody before folded. If you do this on average once every time the dealer button goes around, you will be able to maintain your patient ways.
