Common guys, lets be serious here. $5 arent roulette at all. They are the most easy beatable games there are.

But yes you ll have to play a bit more nitty obv. There is less space for making moves which will work at higher buyins since the calling you down with any 2 mentally prevails here. So basically ABC poker and adjust your betting patterns. You gotta play hard and fast with the goods. Which, I admit, is kind of harsh when you start playing with your Rat. Especially being on a thin line.

Anyways, you can do this Kim happy

I cant agree about the 5ers Jeff. Not the way i play poker anyway.
After the blindlevels went down to 8 min i limp in much more than i used to do with suited connectors etc etc on early stages.
The monkeys wont let me limp with anything, cause they bet 10bb with any 2 facecards or ace rag. -So i basicly only get to play pp etc etc. And ive been carddry for 3 days. Never seen so much rags.

Also if a flop is 8 J 7 they bet 200 if they hold hands like J3, and can easily make me fold the best hand.
I simply never know where i am, in a hand.

When that is said, this has been one of the most frustrating days of poker in a long long time, ive bubbled to 3 outers in 2 sngs. (both time with an awayplayer AND a lowstack at table) both times holding QQ vs Ace rag.

In frustration i decided to make my last game today a good old 10+1. If i didnt cash my roll would be 70. But:

End of day my roll is 101 bucksvery_happy

So i reached to goal i had set for the day in the 12th hour.very_happy

ring games, 40bb, really tight and I suggest multi-tabling. It's pretty boring building a bankroll like this. I worked up to 8 tables when I was buying in 40bb. I'd suggest at least 4 and just play super, super tight. That's the only strategy I could come up with to avoid the variance (with such a short roll i mean). I lasted about 7 months leaving a balance of $150 after cashouts. Easiest way I can see to get over that $200 hump. Jeff's right, tho. There'll be variance, but you guys should be able to go the $5 sng route....I just think it'll be super frustrating and pretty damn boring.

GL however you go happy

Lyk...

Enjoying the thread....i think what your experiencing is the its hard to go back to your roots syndrome...

I made my whole bank roll from $5 sng's so i do know they are very beatable and you can consistently get to the top 4 with strong tight aggressive play...over betting with the nuts you will usually get paid off...

Like you Ive moved on to bigger cash games and rarely hit the 5 sng's althouhg i play a ton of 5 mtt's...

Your play has likely progressed but is no good against the style of play in the $5 sng's...

Keep at it...and hammer those big hands...

It will be interesting to see once you get to $200 and you will get there....how your strategy turns out.

GL!

Have to agree with woodrow et al.

If you cant beat the 5ers, then there's not much hope for you in the 10s, 20s, 30s, and beyond...

You should be able to get a really really good roi by just playing a very simple form of poker.
Only play premiums, dont bluff and you'll be sweet.

Ok, lets agree to disagree.. U dont need to step up much either, i think its way easier to win 10+1 than 5,50

If you cant beat the 5ers, then there's not much hope for you in the 10s, 20s, 30s, and beyond...

Thanx for nice words Ryanhappywink I hope ure right.

Day 4.

Started off with a 5,50.. yeh, i will continue with those, even though that involve alot of screaming and deskbanging.

My x told me i should play hands like KT etc at those levels, i said "no way" i would never know where im at. BUT to prove it i played it.

Board 7 7 T Q K

he bet 300 on river and table K7

Used my last 900 chips to go all in on a raise holding JJ, just to run into.. guess...
Aces YET AGAIN.. amazing how many times my big pp run into aces on rag boards.

Taking a smoke to calm down, than im back for more.
Did any of u guys see that youtube vid of the angry german pokerplayer?

I feel like him nowvery_happy
