Hailing from Portugal....

May 9, 2008 12:00 AM. Post 1
Arrumador can be found at the tables, taking part in Pokah discussions, and has been featured in the NewsRoom recently as part of the LabRats II competition.

While he won't have quite the home field advantage that Tamariz will (who is from Spain) at the Poker Race Trophy semi-final in Spain, he's just got a short flight to the event, where he'll be looking to outrace his competition and nail down a seat in the $500,000 Guaranteed finals held in Vienna in November.

How long have you been playing poker?

I've been playing poker for about 1 year, mainly online. I've played a few times live in major Portuguese poker tour events and a few others at the local poker club.

I play mostly NL HE multi table tournaments, mixing it with sit n go games. I almost never play cash games, though I've been giving them a try lately. I usually play from $20 to $100 buy-in tournaments or SnGs and I'm getting the feel at cash tables on $.50/$1 NL HE stake.

You recently were part of the LabRats II competition on PokerRoom. Did you feel like that experience helped your overall poker game?

It was an awesome experience being part of the LabRats II competition. Unfortunately, I did worse than anticipated. I think this happened because the initial bank roll only allowed playing lower stakes where some players do it just for fun, increasing the variance of the game. The best lesson I took was on how to manage better my state of mind dealing with long bad runs and that surely helps me doing better.

What other hobbies do you have outside of poker?

Besides playing poker, my hobbies are mostly to run away from daily routine. I really like to travel but not always have the spare time to do it. I enjoy hanging out at night with friends and love to sit at an esplanade by the seaside on a sunny day.

Did you try harder to qualify for the trip to Spain because of proximity to your home country of Portugal?

I wouldn't say I've tried harder to qualify for the Spain Race Trophy since I've been through a period of time where I couldn't give it a shot at the SnG leaderboard due to my job demands, although being held in Spain comes in handy as it is a short flight. Anyway, I will be as highly motivated to other races as I was to Brazil or Spain to increase my chances to get a seat in Austria and in a few days I'll have some more spare time to try the Czech leaderboard.

What's a typical poker day like for you? Do you play full-time, only on weekends, or sneak home on lunch breaks from work to play?

Unlucky me, I can't play poker full-time! Fortunately I do enjoy my job and, as I am self-employed, I can manage my time to play most of the dailies and major tournaments on PokerRoom every day. Lately my job doesn't allow me to play as often as I would want to, so I have to sneak on breaks into PokerRoom to play a few SnGs.

I'm self-employed and I run a small business as a civil engineer. My work mainly concerns structural and hydraulic design of residential, commercial and public buildings.

Who are your favorite pro poker players? What one pro player you like to bust the most?

I enjoy watching many of the known poker pro players for educational and entertainment purposes. I wouldn't say I have a favorite but overall I think I've learned much from watching Chris Ferguson and Daniel Negreanu playing. As for the other question it's a funny one, I might say I'd like to bust a few, no one especially, it would mean I was earning a lot of packages on PR or just one and doing great happy

And don’t forget Pokah is going to the WSOP and they want you to come! YES YOU! You could win a trip via Pokah, read and get involved with this today!!!
