Picking a table - any articles?

Jun 8, 2008 08:20 AM. Post 1
I try to pick a table with a high % going into the flop, but there must be more to it... anyone got any links to articles on this? What to look for when picking a table?

madThat's sounds like it may be worth a read.

I must admit, I tend to look for tables with several under full buy-in, as usually a clue that they are either uncomfortable with the stakes or losing.

Conversly if I see a table full of people over maximum buy-in, it shows they have been winning and to be wary of.

Must importantly I mark the players I have played with previously, then I know where I want to sit.

This is only what I have been doing but seems to have been working. Also if table is tough then nothing wrong with moving to a table with weaker/losing players as that is where the profit comes from.

I suppose it depends what you are after, sometimes I just want to take some dollars off the table, sometimes I want a challenge, so nice to mix it up (all part of getting better to).

Just my 2ps worthmad

I suppose it depends on the game but i do the opposite of you. I prefer low % seeing flop. In limit this is even more important . I got even AA i dont want 6 callers to flop as sure as fate 1 will hit and others will chase cards . Depends on the game and sakes though. I figure most good players would prefer low% to flop. That would explain why some of them prefer to play shorthanded.

I think most winning players would want the ave pot size to be high and quite a few to the flop (ie looser and easier to extract cash the better)

I do prefer to be playing pots with 1 or 2 villains though so i usually play short handed.

Havnt had a chance to look for that article yet , ill post it at some point though happy
