KristapsK3 Scores a Knockout in the WSOP Finals - By Seth Shafer

Jun 11, 2008 08:11 AM. Post 1
36 players turned out for Sunday's WSOP online finals at PokerRoom, each hoping
to end the day atop the field and in possession of a $17,500 trip package to
the 2008 WSOP in Las Vegas.
yuefengj2 was the chip leader at the first break, with KristapsK3
surging to the lead when the final table was reached:
Seat 2: Rozza_mite ($3,760 in chips)
Seat 3: KristapsK3 ($29,745 in chips)
Seat 4: Ashamelee ($2,030 in chips)
Seat 5: LeMaestro x ($27,517 in chips)
Seat 6: JuStMe3006 ($3,250 in chips)
Seat 7: _Sandm4n_ ($4,425 in chips)
Seat 8: russchampio ($3,869 in chips)
Seat 9: Mercedes89 ($6,874 in chips)
Seat 10: yuefengj2 ($26,530 in chips)
KristapsK3 scored a double knockout when it was five-handed,
eliminating two players on a single hand to set up the following 3-handed action:
Seat 3: KristapsK3 ($69,772 in chips)
Seat 4: Ashamelee ($10,828 in chips)
Seat 7: _Sandm4n_ ($27,400 in chips)
Ashamelee was forced to shove his short stack in with pocket
sevens but ran into KristapsK3's pocket nines, with Ashamelee
exiting in 3rd place ($293 + a finals ticket).
That hand gave KristapsK3 a dominating lead when heads-up
play began (about 80,000 chips to _Sandm4n_'s 28,000), and
the end came quickly, just 11 hands into heads-up action.
_Sandm4n_'s 7c 5c proved no match for KristapsK3's
Qc 10d on a 10s 8s 5h flop, with a 9d on the turn and the Qd on the river giving
the hand and the victory to KristapsK3, along with the $17,500
prize package for 1st. _Sandm4n_ had to settle for 2nd, worth
$586 plus a ticket to a future online finals.
