Hi earthwizard,

I’ve passed on your suggestion/request to the Promotions team. Hopefully we’ll be able to add an Omaha task in the upcoming weeks. wink

Cheers,

Jun 25, 2008 07:13 PM. Post 22
Hi All,

This week it's Flush on the Flop, Straight on the River...

Your Poker Island qualifying criteria for this week is as follows:

YOU flop the flush, your opponent hits the straight on the river.

You must be playing Texas Holdem cash games for real money.

You must use BOTH hole cards.

Your hand must showdown and win.

There must be at least 3 player seated at the table.

As always, full details of the awesome promo can be found here.

Cheers,

Vinnie

Hi Spot,

Not looking for an argument here, just wondering if you could clarify what you mean?

I'm far from a poker guru, but wouldn't most players stick around in a hand after flopping a flush?

Or am I missing the point completely?

Yes but if raised you seem to be saying dont bet. Hope he hits river straight , This is encouraging bad poker. . I dont know what others think but these things stink to me. .
Why not make it " who wins with a royal or something . Its negative things to poker players to qualify that you are doing . Just my opinion.

Ah, ok. I see what you mean spot.

Not so sure about it encouraging bad poker though, but I do understand your example.

Personally, I don't see this promo changing the way players play across the site. The qualifying 'event' we're discussing wouldn't occur enough for it to form any sort of trend.(purely my opinion, by the way)

I, for one, like this promo.

PokerRoom.com players have been saying that the site needs to offer them a worthwhile promotion for as long as I can remember (mostly because "all the cool sites are doing it") happy

I reckon living in a Villa, on an island, and playing poker for a few weeks is something worth playing for and if it means winning a few hands in which your opponent made some poor decisions then so be it.

No No No . You seem to be saying play bad hands to get there. . Not your opponent. Im not letting you away with that . . This is not about getting there playing good poker. This is a gimmick . Nothing more. I post a lot and not all
points are too sensible. . But i always have some point thats a bit basic. .
This is badly thought out and its a bit of a joke.
Put $200 n my account and ill tell you how to fix it and create more interest.
THIS WILL BE MY POST tomorrow.
" Poker Island. Lets make it like Big Brother". Im sure you Mods hate me but who cares lmao

Alright then, Spot.

I think I understand where you're coming, I don't really agree, but I understand.

Looking forward to the insight that your "Make Poker Island like Big Brother" thread will provide. very_happy

Cheers!

So this is Week 2 and I can't win if I get a winning flush using both my cards, on any tournament, right? It must be played on the cash tables only, right?

Or have I got it all wrong?

If I am right, then I would be spending one heck of a lot of money on the cash tables trying to win a flush or a straight. At least playing in the tourney section I can get away with a 5er or so.

What say you Julie?
