No One is a Match for dematch AA - By Seth Shafer

Jul 2, 2008 12:00 AM. Post 1
While all eyes may be on the WSOP in Las Vegas, that attention will shift soon to the WSOPE, and PokerRoom is once again ahead of the curve, already running online finals that guarantee the winner a huge $26,500 prize package to the WSOPE!

Saturday's WSOPE online finals drew 60 players, including a few Team PokerRoom.com members (gbpoker and janus1984) slated to arrive in Vegas in just a few short days for the 2008 WSOP Main Event.

cindolf held the lead at the first break, with tankman84 surging to the top of the field at the 2nd break. Here's how the final table stacked up when the field was reduced to ten:

Seat 1: dematch AA ($19,086 in chips)
Seat 2: karpina_Gno ($22,457 in chips)
Seat 3: tankman84 ($36,628 in chips)
Seat 4: 6blTOBYXA ($23,820 in chips)
Seat 5: cindolf ($14,490 in chips)
Seat 6: bubasvabe ($15,580 in chips)
Seat 7: t.A.T.u. ($9,465 in chips)
Seat 8: Marky_Crash ($8,458 in chips)
Seat 9: gbpoker ($18,760 in chips)
Seat 10: KPetike1 ($11,256 in chips)

While dematch AA got short-stacked early on in final table action, he came roaring back with a vengance at the end, holding a big lead when heads-up play began:

Seat 1: dematch AA ($150,620 in chips)
Seat 9: gbpoker ($29,380 in chips)

gbpoker was trying to book his fourth trip with Team PokerRoom (2007 and 2008 WSOP, as well as the 2007 WPT Canada) but it wasn't in the cards for him on this day. While he did battle back and double up a few times, dematch AA's lead proved to be too much in the end.

The decisive hand came with the players all-in pre-flop, and gbpoker holding Ac Qs versus dematch AA's Ks 10s. The flop came 10c Js 9h, giving dematch AA the lead with a pair of tens but gbpoker had an open-ended straight draw, as well as overcards.

The 4s on the turn and 5c on the river meant that dematch AA's tens held, giving him the victory and the $26,500 prize package for 1st, with gbpoker settling for $711 for 2nd place plus a ticket to another online finals.
