What a disappointment…

I had my worries when the South African couch changed the starting team which beat the New Zealanders, but I honestly thought they would be able to beat the Australians.

The Australians played well, but I don’t think they will be able to beat the New Zealanders with the same sort of game plan they used against the South Africans.

Like I mentioned early in this thread, in this tournament, it was never going to be easy to choose a clear winner and this is reflected by the log standings…

New Zealand – Played 2 – Won 1 – 5 Points
South Africa – Played 3 – Won 1 – 5 Points
Australia – Played 1 – Won 1 – 4 Points

Personally I don’t understand why the SA couch opted to field the team that lost against NZ instead of doing the obvious and field the team that beat NZ. But oh well, he has a plan apparently.

Hopefully the time off will do the Springboks good as they need to go back to the drawing board and figure something out if they still wish to claim the Tri-nations title.

Next Weekend Australia takes on New Zealand at Telstra Stadium in Sydney. This is bound to be a good match as well.

So get your predictions in early!

Cheers,
Rio

Ausies and Kiwis,

What more do I have to say?

It is going to be one of the biggest matches of this year’s Tri-nations. Especially because the Wallabies have a Kiwi coach and the Kiwis have an Ausie coach.

Surely when the national anthem of each country rings out over the PA-system will the emotion of both teams and coaches erupt… Let the best man win and to the victor goes the bragging rights.

Even as a Springbok supporter, I have my interest in this match. If the Wallabies were to register back-to-back Bledisloe wins over the All Blacks in Sydney and Auckland over the next nine days, they would go to the top of the IRB rankings for the first time in the system's five-year history.

New Zealand will obviously do everything in their power to prevent this…

Personally I predict that Australia will win tomorrow, but unfortunately lose the next match between these to teams.

Here are the teams for Saturday’s test match.

Australia - Adam Ashley-Cooper; Peter Hynes, Ryan Cross, Berrick Barnes, Lote Tuqiri; Matt Giteau, Luke Burgess; Wycliff Palu, George Smith (captain), Rocky Elsom; Nathan Sharpe, James Horwill; Al Baxter, Stephen Moore, Benn Robinson.

Reserves: Tatafu Polota-Nau, Matt Dunning, Dan Vickerman, Phil Waugh, Sam Cordingley, Timana Tahu, Drew Mitchell.

New Zealand - Mils Muliaina; Anthony Tuitavake, Richard Kahui, Ma'a Nonu, Sitiveni Sivivatu; Daniel Carter, Andy Ellis; Jerome Kaino, Daniel Braid, Rodney So'oialo (captain); Ali Williams, Brad Thorn; Greg Somerville, Andrew Hore, Tony Woodcock.

Reserves: Keven Mealamu, John Afoa, Anthony Boric, Sione Lauaki, Jimmy Cowan, Stephen Donald, Conrad Smith.

Gentlemen, enjoy this weekends action and remember to get your predictions in before the match starts.

Cheers,
Rio
