Speedzebre Earns His Stripes and Speeds Off to Victory

Jul 28, 2008 12:00 AM. Post 1
Saturday’s Team London online finals was yet another sold out affair (with the 60 player max hit days in advance of the tourney), and featured many of the Team PokerRoom warriors of the felt that you followed at the 2008 WSOP including dj_stiff, AKplus, TheBrain001, wieringen, and nammer4life.

Speedzebre got off to a quick start and was leading at the first break, and still stood atop the standings at the second break as well. When action had played down to the final five, yep, you guessed it, Speedzebre was still in the lead:

Seat 1: T_money05 ($47,374 in chips)
Seat 4: Herc-Ned ($33,525 in chips)
Seat 5: djzen94 ($9,710 in chips)
Seat 6: Speedzebre ($71,764 in chips)
Seat 8: robertof7 ($17,627 in chips)

Djzen94 and rovertof7 bowed out in back to back hands, leaving the final three to do battle for the $26,500 top prize:

Seat 1: T_money05 ($47,374 in chips)
Seat 4: Herc-Ned ($33,525 in chips)
Seat 6: Speedzebre ($99,101 in chips)

Herc-Ned represented Team PokerRoom at the 2008 Aussie Millions and was trying to book a return trip with the Team to a major live event, but eventually fell short in 3rd place.

That left T_money05 and Speedzebre to fight it out heads-up, with the following chip stacks when heads-up play began:

Speedzebre: 116,554 chips
T_money05: 63,446 chips

In the end it proved to simply be Speedzebre’s day, as he finished off the victory shortly into heads-up action when both players were all-in pre-flop with Speedzebre holding Ah Jh and T-money05 with pocket sixes.

An ace on the flop crushed much of the drama and the turn and river blanked, giving Speedzebre an impressive wire to wire victory and the $26,500 top prize. T-money05 collected $711 + a ticket to a future online finals.

Congrats to all the winners and don’t forget to register early for any upcoming Team London finals, as they’re filling up very quickly (with next week’s finals on August 2nd already filled to max capacity of 60 players).
