One Veteran and Two Newcomers Strike Gold in the Double Trouble

Sep 16, 2008 03:55 AM. Post 1
Saturday’s Double Trouble was one of the last chances for players to grab a reserve their spot on Team PokerRoom for two separate upcoming live events: the PokerNews Cup in Melbourne and the WPT North American Poker Championship at Niagara Falls.

69 runners turned out on Saturday, battling it out for the top prize of a $15,500 trip package to the 2008 WPT Canada as well as $7,000 trip packages to the PokerNews Cup for the 2nd and 3rd place finishers.

bigbalu67 (who was part of Team PokerRoom for the 2008 WSOP) held the lead at the first break, with karamuro34 forging to the top of the pack at the second break. With the field narrowed down to just five players remaining, here’s how they stacked up:

Seat 2: ashyp_1985 ($8,754 in chips)
Seat 5: Ronnnies ($45,843 in chips)
Seat 8: chrkog ($28,326 in chips)
Seat 9: karamuro34 ($43,350 in chips)
Seat 10: nammer4life ($80,727 in chips)

nammer4life should be a pretty familiar name to readers, as the high stakes cash game player has represented the Team at both the WSOP and WSOPE. He aggressively put his big stack to work as the bubble approached, knocking out ashyp_1985 in 5th and then building up further when action was four-handed, constantly putting the other players to the test.

Someone had to finish just outside the top three spots that paid out trip packages, and unfortunately that person was karamuro34. karamuro34 raised pre-flop and, once again, nammer4life made a big raise all-in, putting karamuro34 to the test for all his chips.

karamuro34 made the call with pocket 3s (3s and 3h), and was up against nammer4life’s 4s 6s. A flop of 6c Kc 7c left karamuro34 praying for a two out miracle that never developed, with nammer4life taking down the pot and karamuro34 finishing 4th ($511 + a finals ticket).

Armed with even more chips, nammer4life never looked back, powering his way to the victory and the top prize. Here’s how the final three players finished:

1. nammer4life - $15,500 WPT Canada Package
2. chrkog - $7,000 PokerNews Cup Package
3. Ronnnies - $7,000 PokerNews Cup Package
