Bounties, Cash, and Trips, Oh My: the September Bounty - By Seth Shafer

Sep 17, 2008 12:00 AM. Post 1
The Bounty was back on Sunday, September 14th, with plenty of prizes up for grabs for the 1,172 players that turned out. With an entry fee of just $100, the Bounty packs quite a wallop, as in addition to some big cash prizes the top finisher also would receive a $15,500 trip package to the WPT Canada live event, with 2nd and 3rd place each receiving a $7,000 package to the PokerNews Cup tournament in Melbourne.

Early leaders included Raquel4, Mendus1_x, and savvas71. At the five hour mark, sytumo was sitting atop the field, with just 21 players still alive and slinging chips.

sytumo held onto the lead all the way down to just five players remaining:

Seat 2: Wolle2209 ($195,128 in chips)
Seat 3: sytumo ($785,228 in chips)
Seat 7: Pech gehabt ($393,308 in chips)
Seat 8: pauly_walnut ($293,048 in chips)
Seat 10: scrforrever ($91,288 in chips)

scrforrever would bow out in 5th ($5,145) when he was forced to shove his short stack in pre-flop with Kc Jd but ran into Wolle2209’s dominating Ah Ks.

sytumo’s run would end in 4th ($6,431), just shy of the trip packages, as is stack dwindled down over a series of hands until he had just a handful of chips, which went pauly_walnut’s way when his Ah 2s held up against sytumo’s Ks 7c.

While the final three were all guaranteed a trip, there was still plenty of extra cash up for grabs, as well as the extra value in the top trip package to the WPT Canada event.

Seat 2: Wolle2209 ($255,368 in chips)
Seat 7: Pech gehabt ($835,308 in chips)
Seat 8: pauly_walnut ($667,324 in chips)

Wolle2209’s day ended in 3rd ($7,000 PokerNews Cup package + $1,286) when he lost a battle of kickers to Pech gehabt; each flopped top pair on a flop of 9d 5s Jh but Pech gehabt’s Qh Jc outkicked Wolle2209’s 8d Js.

Pech gehabt began heads-up play with a 2-1 chip advantage over pauly_walnut, but the battled back and forth in a see-saw battle that saw each on the brink of elimination at various points.

In the end, Pech gehabt proved triumphant, taking down 1st place and the $15,500 WPT Canada trip package, as well as $5,145 in extra spending money. pauly_walnut finished runner-up, collecting a $7,000 PokerNews Cup package as well as $2,572 in cash.
