theres some points i dont agree with........
amh,as much as i respect you,i have to disagree.in a case like this,where the guilty are so plainly evil,i see absolutely no possible reason to treat them with any kind of medical help,treatment,medication,whatsoever.
sometimes,as hard as it may seem to take,we all have to recognise that occasionally there are real evil,nasty ******** on this earth

This is an absolutely sick story of a very young child, who suffered terrible abuse at the hands of his parent/carers.

Earlier on in the thread I read that there has not been a case as bad as this before.

The nightmarish sequence of events leading up to her death, and the failure of Haringey Social Servcies prompted an enquiry led by Lord Laming into what went wrong, and how to prevent this.

This formed the report we now hear of so much today.

We all hope for swift and just punishment to those who physically/mentally abused this child, as well as those who should have protected him.

Take a moment and ask yourself what you would do if it were happening near you. What could you do to protect a child?

I intervened when I heard a neighbor screaming at her baby through my apartment walls. I could hear the baby crying.

I knocked on her door and offered to watch him for as long as she needed. Told her to go shopping...visit a friend. When she felt relaxed and calm...she could come pick him up. She took me up on my offer. While she was gone...I did report her. The proper authorities needed to intervene as well.

She knew I had reported her...and she also knew that when she felt overwhelmed, she could leave him with me.

These children need someone who will step in and protect them. Making a call to the authorities and then blaming them when things go horribly wrong doesn't help.

It used to 'take a village' to raise a child. I think they had it right many, many years ago.

I watched it all.
You know mother was playing poker online at time.
This was down to money.
Social workers were overuled by bosses. No cash.
200 kids in haringey . Im amagine how many in the whole country.
One kid a week dies like this . What a world.
I despair too Silky.
You look into the parents backgrounds and the boyfriends ita a mess.
Answers ? Got none.
I will say this . Im a bit older and when young families had support from all as we lived near one and other. Now all over the place.
Guess no point trying to make sense of this as i cant.

I'm sure I'm not the only 1 to of received a text, naming the 3 vile oxygen thieves responsible for these horrible events.

Should they be named and shamed?

After googling the names, it does look like they are correct and have been leaked. As part of my search, I came across some grounds as to why they should not be named, 1 of these reasons is that the step father is to face charges of a similar nature (apparently far worse but, I don't know how) and, if his name is released he will be able to claim that his name being leaked will compromise the ability of getting a fair trial and, he could get away with his crimes.
The source of this claim can not be verified as you'd expect

Jason Owen who has always been referred to as the lodger is the step fathers brother, he changed his name somewhere around the time Peter was found.

There is a rumour another child in the same house was abused in some way but so far it's only a rumour.

The judge appears to have used a new law to ensure that all those involved will spend a long time in prison.

Personally I'd like to see the whole bunch topped but that's never gonna happen.

The names weren't leaked. They were originally reported by various places prior to a privacy order being put in place. From what I've read Baby Peter had sibling(s), and the order is to protect their privacy.

Oh good god, this is horrible!
Why would people do this to a child.
I think murderers should be killed the same way they kill their victims. Pity it couldn't be done over and over for eternity.

This is truly horrific, and i hope they burn in hell!
