Swings and reorientation

Feb 22, 2005 10:37 PM. Post 1
Hey-

I have to run but thought I'd post that another factor in my demise from tourneys sometimes is that a huge turn around or comeback can happen and I don't recalculate the entire game and get settled into my new situation clearly enough. Or, more often for me, I can lose half my stack or more and not adjust properly to being newly poor. Since I tend to play very tightly early and then open up more after break these fluctuations happen late in tourneys for me. If I'm at 3X the blinds, say about 2700 or so, and then ten hands later I'm at 40K or whatever, I will sometimes take a short break, check the lobby, retime the game in my mind, etc. When I don't do this I can begin to make mistakes.
