Yes, unless we are really so arrogant that we assume that the universe changes just to accomodate our prescence.

Since I am that arrogant, I'm changing my answer to no, it doesn't make a sound.

I once heard that it depends on how many rings it has. If it has more than 60 rings it lays around on the forest floor b1tching and moaning for years or until someone comes and makes firewood out of it.
