Now here's a quandary I found myself in last night whilst playing on another site. I was in a single table tourney of 10 players however 7 of the players sat out the entire game. The question that came up is: Is it ethical to assist fellow players in staying in such a tourney until all the sit-outs are dead ensuring that the people actually playing the game get their deserved reward?
Collusion is unethical in any regard in poker. For play money, it seems a waste of that boundary. Meaning that I'd feel silly crossing the one rule that you can break on an online site for play money. For real money, it's absolutely something you shouldn't do.
That being said, we all hate those SOB's. I also feel like an a55 when I can't beat a guy who isn't even playing. Your scenario, though, with only 3 people playing, I don't see how all 3 of you COULD stay in longer than all 7 sitters, with only their blind money to keep your pots growing and *that* is a tough break. You take your chances everytime you play a hand or join a tournament, this doesn't seem any different.
Brg makes some strong points. The blinds are not quite enough to sift out non-playing players. However, if the majority (a good size one; 70%+)is there and is willing to give up some rakeage, take every last one of those stupid jerks out.
The great thing about SNG's is that the blinds go up every 10 hands instead of every x minutes, so if you guys are stealing the AWAY blinds with some efficiency, they'll be gone in no time (then someone will get AA and break the chain)
And what's the worst that can happen for play money collusion, even though I don't think this really counts.
It's not worth the hassle. I figure - I play to win, and I don't trust the other "live" people to throw me a few blinds, so why bother trying to collude? I figure it's always me vs. the other 9 people no matter what, so I just keep silent if someone brings up the idea.
yeah most people are stupid anyway lol they wouldn't understand the concept of working together to get to the money. poker isn't meant to be a team sport.
