It was a journey of forbidden love…. I kept trying to walk away, but like most dreams, my legs wouldn’t move when I needed to run. The longer I remained, the harder it became to walk away. I was trembling from the chill of the iceberg around my heart. Words like, “this love is valuable”, “its not often that love like this comes around” blanketed me and caused the ice to slowly melt away from my cold heart. I was lovingly put on a pedestal, higher than I’d ever been before. I felt like a princess, and my life reflected it. Then, storms blew in, the wind raged; the door began to swing closed. I could feel the chill from the iceberg again. “Keep the door open, even if only a little bit” I heard my love say. If it shuts, it’ll be lost forever I thought. Fearfully, I tore a piece of the blanket away that was keeping my heart warm, and rolled it into a fold to wedge the door open, although slightly. The storm eventually subsided and the door was opened once again. There through the open door, stood my Chieftan whom I’d waited for. He came to me. But something was altered. The winds from the storm exposed someone different. Although he tried to find it, the love that was so valuable was washed away. It couldn’t stand the storm…. I could feel the chill of the ice forming around my heart once again. There were no words to blanket my icing heart any longer. He “flipped the switch” as he walked away and quickly closed the door….. July, 06 2006, I woke up……… in the After-Glow |
