Goldfish with life jacket dies A goldfish given a life jacket made from a wine cork and an elastic band has died. Tommy had faced starvation because his swim bladder was damaged and he couldn't rise to the surface of his bowl to feed. Owner Gertrude "magazinegirl" Bigbottom had improvised the life jacket that seemed to do the trick but Tommy was found dead after seven weeks. Miss Bigbottom from Arizona told The Pokah News; "He has gone to the goldfish bowl in the sky. I don't know why, it may have been just old age." She buried her pet in the garden to the tune of David Bowie's Golden Years. A fish's swim bladder acts like a balloon to help keep it buoyant. The substitute cork was cut in half and placed on either side of Tommy, attached with an elastic band. The owner said Tomy died from old age I say he had his bowels restricted by the elastic band and died because he was full of shit. |
