About me

Presentation Hello fellow poker players of the world.

There are few feats in human history that mark the pinnacle of achievement and wonder of our great species more than such creations like the Pyramids, the Great Wall of China, even a lava lamp. But nothing, and I mean NOTHING holds a candle to the all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet for $5.99.

4/19/04 Today I got the best fortune cookie I've ever read: "Many a false step is made by standing still."

6/4/04 Got another good one: "Every man is a volume if you know how to read him."

6/11/04 Got one that came true: "A new friend will help you break out of an old routine."

But enough about that. Here's a little about me. I'm 27, live in the great strip mall town of Manchester, Connecticut (Go Huskies!) and fell in love with poker about two years ago. Other interests are billiard and volleyball tournaments and the travel that goes with it.

I collect orchids, rare ones, paphs, phrags, cymbidiums, you name it.

If you live in Connecticut, please apply to the Connecticut Players Club in the Groups tab. I would like to organize events to Foxwoods.

A nice guy from the crew allowed me to get on stage and around the set to take close ups. The two shaking hands are the final two players. Lee on the right is the winner of that 1.5 million in cash you see there.

Mike Sexton (the announcer on the left there) and I had a nice chat about partypoker.com which is the site he does the commercials for and is one of the other casinos I play real money at. I got Doyle Brunson to sign a $20 bill (Andrew Jackson was one of the most avid gamblers of all American presidents, so I thought it would be poetic to have a living legend sign it). Here's a pic of Shawna Hiatt.

I was sitting in the VIP section in front of the father of Brad (local CT player) who finished 4th and that's why she was interviewing him. Lee knocked him out by catching an A on the river with AK after calling Brad's all in with KK.

Humberto Brenes (in the yellow jacket) is one of my favorite players and he finished 3rd after a bad beat. But his comedy throughout the event was so great to see live, including his famous running start to signal when he's all in.

The second day was the battle between the best sellers of poker books. A single table tournament, the winner got a free ticket into the Five Star Poker Classic at the Bellagio. I was in Vegas for business not knowing it was the same weekend as the Five Star Poker Classic. I sat down to play some no limit and about an hour into it, I got up to stretch, turned around, and Johnny Chan and Scotty Nguyen were right behind me. Then I looked around and noticed all the other pros and asked what was going on only to find out the amazing coincidence.

Here's a pic of the players before it get started.

The order from back left to back right: Mike Sexton (announcer for WPT) Mike Caro David Sklansky (my favorite author) The order from front left to front right: Doyle Brunson Someone I have no clue why they were sitting there TJ Cloutier (I sat next to his wife during the match) Missing and still sleeping of course is Phil Hellmuth. He arrived late, holding everyone up. He wasn't even wearing suitable attire so the crew had to send for a clean shirt. He changed behind the scenes and I didn't take a picture of his pasty white flabby self because, well, it would probably shatter the lens on my camera. He was such a jerk through the whole event, answering and making countless cell phone calls and asking for hot chocolate, getting up and leaving the table. I can't stand him, and some of the other players and even the WPT crew finally spoke up and told him to give it a rest. Everyone else was so great, always taking time for autographs and pictures with a smile on their face and even hung out with us in the adjacent room before the tourney started. Here's a picture of Phil's typical antics. He'd come over to us in the front row making some comment, "Unbelievable!"

Doyle managed to knock his butt out and everyone cheered Doyle on, especially since he hasn't won anything in a very long time. Phil eventually collected himself and shake his hand.

And then there were two. Doyle and Sklansky. You can see in this pic Phil still bitching in the background.

Doyle had a HUGE stack compared to Sklansky's going into the heads up, but Sklansky played tight and didn't let the pressure or the blinds shake him. Doyle on the other hand, kept going all in as if he was getting tired and just wanted to end it. Sklansky would simply fold until he'd get a monster. In fact, the irony of the whole tournament is that the only single person who actually played in the tournament EXACTLY how they advise in their own book was Sklansky. And he ended up winning it. Tight tight tight. He let everyone else knock each other out and never put his chips at risk. Waited for the big monsters and like a snake in the grass, struck when the time was right. In order to take these next shots, I left my seat, ran around to the back among the camera crews and snuck in these shots. There are massive cameras on big cranes constantly moving in and out, up and down, left and right. And myself along with a couple photographers (ones with actual credentials) were snapping pictures while dodging the cameras because they were still live filming the award presentation.

Then I went back to the front after the video cameras were shut down to get on the stage with the photographers.

If you're ever in the area of Foxwoods Resort and Casino, drop me a line. I'm there every weekend because I figured out a system that works nearly flawlessly at the $1/2 No Limit tables. I make $60-115 an hour and play 20+ hour sessions nonstop every weekend.

Feel free to join the Connecticut Players Club in the forums section to be kept abreast of events at Foxwoods and further analysis of poker theory being tested at the various no limit stakes.

The funniest thing you just have to see if you live anywhere near Delaware. Saw this on TV, on one of those "Real TV" type shows. I nearly fell apart laughing so hard. Who thought building a cannon to fire a pumkin 8/10 of a mile could be so much fun! Check out the pics, these folks take their chunkin' SERIOUSLY!
