Thinking about the world in terms of humanity as maximizing our time in the universe (astrophysical studies make it pretty clear we will not live forever) seems like the best course of action. Sartre was right that our existence is without meaning. Meaning is constructed, all perspectives are biased (including having the human brain), so, the best we can do is decide what to define as important and live our lives as if it so.
