| Presentation | Here is how I know I am not your typical college professor... 1) students and former students drunk dial me at 3 a.m. A couple years ago, I was taking my class to a local canyon to do water sampling. Since we were driving in 4 cars, I told them that if they get lost to call me. When I started to give the drivers my cell phone number, I saw all 16 of the students had their cell phones out and were recording my number...I have black mail voice records of some of these calls, so after they complete medical school, I can get "donations" to support my poker habit... 2) one of my students saw me leaving the building with my kids (who are 11 and 13). She introduces her self, and says "your dad is really cool." Now, this girl is really hot...where were all these hot girls thinking I was cool 20 years ago! 3) students stop by my office when I have a late night and bring me beer. Enough said... 4) my classes are among the first to fill up in the department, even though I have had classes of 40+ students and only given one "A" grade. 5) students stop by my office to discuss how to play poker hands... 6) i am surviving on an average of 4.5 hours of sleep per night. I feel like I am back in college again. 7) I have AIM and I have a facebook site. Having both of these completely freaks students out. 8) I am the oldest player in the USD intramural softball league. Oh, yeah, we are 6-0 headed into the playoffs, and in our closest game so far, we only won by 9 runs. Several of my students have played against me, and they don't like the fact that I can still beat them. |
