About me
| Presentation | Several years ago I made my first pigramage to poker Mecca (Las Vegas). My self and a buddy of mine were dispatched there by our wives as it was his 40th birthday, his wife was the bridesmaid at my wedding. We headed out to the airport and proceeded to stock up on Guinness as we knew we would not get any more good guinness for some days to come. Poured onto the plane we started on the small ones, Jameson, JD and vodkas. There was a 6 hour stop over in Atlanta, time to adjust to some of the local brew, we opted for Coronas and promptly consumed all the available stock in the airport bar (ok, maybe not all the stock, but a hell of a lot of it). We then continued on down to Vegas and checked into the Luxor, dumped our bags and headed for the bar. The long and the short of it... it was 24 hours of drinking and traveling and we were 18 hours older (time difference !). I decided to go to bed and my buddy remained propped up at the bar. This was when things started to go wrong. I hadn't used my swipe access earlier and it failed to work in the inclinator at the hotel, the lift went totally dark for about 5 minutes and freaked me out completely. When it eventually reopened I stormed off to the reception screaming blue murder about their failed key. Unfortuantely for me all the receptionist did was press her panic button and 3 gigantic bouncers appeared beside me. Undetered I now challanged these (I'm 5" 7') "do I look like I need the 3 of you to sort me out"?... The red headed bouncer in the middle motioned to the other 2 to leave saying he would take care of this. Turns out he had irish roots and assisted me back to my room, also told me that normally my ass would have been tossed straight out of the hotel. Alone in the room now and lying in bed, the full reality of what might have happened hit home. I needed a smoke, damn airport security for taking my lighter, I needed a light. I stuck my head out the bedroom door, there was an ice station and a room service trolly in the hall... hmmm, might find a light there! then slam, fkn door closed behind me and I was standing there in my underwear. Thinking quickly, I removed the table cloth from the room service trolly and improvised a toga. Headed back to reception and upon arriving promptly asked for a light first (they could do what they wanted once I had a smoke), I then informed reception that I had locked myself out of my room to which she replied... "hold on til I call security" I wished the ground would open up there and then and swallow me, fortunately a different security person turned up and brought me back to my room. The following morning I went down to the bar and found my buddy still sitting there... "do you know what happened to me last night" I asked him, to which the bar girl said, "you're not the naked guy from the lobby last night, are you?" :blush: for the rest of the week, total strangers were refering to me as "the naked guy from the lobby" |
