| Presentation | I am, usually, pretty private. I'm an older guy, divorced, with younger kids & that sort of colors the way I look at life these days. Live in the Pacific Palisades in California, between Malibu & Santa Monica, about 4 miles from the Pacific Ocean, down a steep canyon. I am perched on a mt. top with the coyotes, bobcats (both of which got a dog of mine in the last two years, damn 'em), rattlers, birds of most varities, scorpions, snails, flowers, trees, rocks, scree, fire breaks, fences/walls, I am retired, I was an advertising writer, designer, creative director & overall creative "problem solver," esp. good with tough/difficult clients and/or products. Worked well with those who fuurther contribute so much to advertising (artists, photographers, models, sound people, film/video crews, et al.), which is an "Art Form" all in itself! Tough audience & you gotta know what you're doing to get their attention & cooperation. Whew. I am a writer myself––beyond ad copy & tv/radio/film scripts––a widely-published poet, have sold a few options on some odd screenplays (none produced), have doctored some scripts for others, et cetera. I am about 1/2 way through a long novel (isn't everyone?) & have a few plays stacked over there with the spiders & dust motes & of interest only to my new kittens. I read anything set in type, devouring about 4 books at once (8 going @the moment), scattered 'round the digs. I am a painter (oils sometimes, acrylics when I am less patient). I do intricate Rapidiograph® ink drawings (serious to cartoons) & do tricky collages, large & post card size, that I used to sell & now mostly do just do to send to friends for their amusement & mine. Though I can do those things––some collages take months––I CANNOT wrap a gift!! Go figure. I am thinking of going back to school (have a BA in English––useless––& a couple of years of art school where I went on the GI Bill & mostly sat around & mumbled & smoked other people's dope. I don't do that anymore much anymore, but prob'ly should start again, the way this country is going (see Down Arrow). Where was I, oh! Back to school––to better learn Spanish, for all the obvious California reasons, as well as loving San Miguel de Allende, where I hope to move ... a great place, Colonial Mexico. I love music, fly fishing (bamboo rods, wet or dry flies), hiking, surfing, riding (western), taking kids on trail walks where I am a docent/guide (squinting closely, I can identify a hummingbird, rattler & poison oak), travel whenever I can (any mode of travel–– except Cruise Ships, which remind me of Tom Cruise, gluttony & really bad films). I love most people & am low-keyed around most mammals & livestock, even the ones I dislike––although I tend to growl lowly around those & usually manage to avoid 'em w/great deftness. Gak. Thats enough!! Sorry. |
