ARCHIVE FOR THE '5 Diamond Classic 2005' Category

Friday, December 16th, 2005

The final table of the 5 Diamond Classic has just started.
Unfortunately none of the Team PokerRoom.com players made it that far, so we are no longer actively following the final.

Instead we have kept busy with making sure that the team has had just as good a time away from the tables as they had while playing. All in line with the Team PokerRoom.com motto.

For his win in the all-honours brutal Team PokerRoom.com Invitational last night, Majorace has been awarded the Play of the Day for day 4.
Congratulations to all of you who picked Majorace in the Busting Bellagio promo. You have all won the exclusive PokerRoom.com Business Card Case.

The last Play of the Day will go to nrekone for his fabulous interview with Tomas that you can view right here in the blog. You'll not find a cooler cat around a poker table anywhere.
Congratulations to everyone who picked nrekone. The gold-finish Dealer Buttons will be shipped after the holidays.

And to those who picked Azziv you will all have your shares of the $500,000 Team Fund bonus DOUBLED since he was the last Team PokerRoom.com member standing.
I'm sure that's worthy of a thanks should you meet and possibly beat him on PokerRoom.com.

So that's all from us here in Vegas. Hope you all enjoyed following this blog and have gotten an insight into what it's like to be a member of Team PokerRoom.com. The next event is the event more exclusive WPT Finals in April. The qualifiers have already started.

All in all, the team took home a total of almost $175,000 in prize money and had a prizeless amount of fun.
Next time, it might be you.

See you in April?

Friday, December 16th, 2005 The winner has been declared - majorace is the current ruler of the Team, with BluePenguin in the second place. Third was, as noted before, junkkyxxx and in the fourth place we got chimp15. It was a very strong tournament - I don't think at any time during the whole tournament the Big Blind got to see a flop for free... The Team is heading for the poker tables in Las Vegas right now, and final table has been settled for the WPT - this is it for Rod and Todd for the night. Here is the final table of the WPT: Seat 1 - Darrell "Gigabet" Dicken - 3,510,000 Seat 2 - Patrik Antonius - 1,755,000 Seat 3 - Rehne Pedersen - 3,225,000 Seat 4 - Joanne "J.J." Liu - 3,630,000 Seat 5 - Phil "Unabomber" Laak - 2,505,000 Seat 6 - Doyle Brunson - 2,025,000

Friday, December 16th, 2005 The final table has been filled with furious action - even though Fougan was eliminated early on. At the moment they are down to three - BluePenguin, junkkyxxx and majorace are the ones left. The fourth place finisher was chimp15, taking home some tournament tickets on PokerRoom.com in addition to the $24,150 he took home at the WPT... Newsflash! As I'm typing this junkkyxxx is eliminated and we're down to the heads-up match between BluePenguin and majorace.

Friday, December 16th, 2005 Well there I go making predicitions again. As usual it comes up way short. Bengt Sonnert was eliminated from the 5 Diamond Classic one second after I predicted he could go all the way. Remind me to apologize to him for writing that...... Joe Cassidy eliminated! The televized final table has been determined. Congratulations to JJ Liu, Doyle Brunson, Patrik Antonius, Darrell Dicken, Phil Laak and Rehne Pedersen. What a final table. Certainly one of the strongest in WPT history.

Short-stacked Brtndr1377 thinks for a while before folding AK to a re-raise. It looked liked the perfect place to move and the fold suprised me. But when the re-raiser flips a pair of kings I'm silenced.Ten minutes later Brtndr1377 doubled up thrice and has $6,600 going into the final table.
A final table featuring the following Team PokerRoom.com players:
Fougan Majorace On Full Tilt Minjita Chimp15 junkkyxxx BluePenguin Brtndr1377 Lazyeye99

Friday, December 16th, 2005 Amongst all the legends and upcoming superstars of poker (Patrik Antonius certainly qualifies) one should not overlook Swede Bengt Sonnert. Up until late in day three he had actually not been all-in once against a bigger stack. To me, that says alot about what surviving in these massive events is all about.

Friday, December 16th, 2005 When his A10 spikes a 9 on the turn to complete a 10 high straight against two short-stacked all-ins - AA and KJ respectively.

Friday, December 16th, 2005 A short-stacked Implode007 moves with queens and gets called by junkyXXX. Facing an ace-rag Implode007 looks good but an unfortunate ace on the flop ends his challenge. In the loosest move of the century On Full Tilt calls Majorace's all-in pre-flop move with 56. Majorace's tens hold up he is now third in chips.

Friday, December 16th, 2005 Patrik Antonius clash with JJ Lui and comes up short. JJ's aces crush the Fin's KQ top pair. If Antonius recovers, he certainly deserves to go all the way. With David Levi out in ninth we might still be looking at a pre-midnight conclusion.

Friday, December 16th, 2005 We just changed the name of this little event.
After his monster run during level five, MerVic's tournament comes to an aweful end as he runs into the chip leader. On a board of KQxQ all the chips go in. MerVic: q10 BluePenguin: Aq BluePenguin's chip lead just doubled.
