Qualifying for the Aussie Millions is Easy as A-B-C for bmc.100.

Dec 10, 2007 Saturday was a busy day for PokerRoom.com players looking to catch the last train (err, plane) to the Aussie Millions. Not only was it the last day to qualify to be a part of the exclusive Team PokerRoom.com experience in the Land Down Under, but two different online finals were scheduled, so by the end of the day two more poker trips of a lifetime worth over $20,000 would be handed out.

The first online finals of the day drew 48 players, for a prize pool of $31,200 with the top six spots paying. Familiar faces from past live events included Ovoman, pom_1962, Wieringen, Jeff_Wood, dj_stiff, and whassup_x, as well as Pokah regular Puggy82.

Kasjol would get out to an early lead, sitting atop the heap at the first break, only to see linda_poker overtake the chip lead at the second break. When the final table was set, though, a new leader had emerged:

kabalajacek 35,081
bmc.100. 25,838
Ovoman 17,073
river73 16,820
Fabienne1988 11,402
londongent33 9,610
Wieringen 8,463
Puggy82 7,245
aalgruen 6,768
lastcall1 x 5,700

Typically play tightens up a bit on the bubble, but this event’s bubble burst in pretty quick, dramatic fashion. Down to seven players, Fabienne1988, Ovoman, and bmc.100. tangled in a huge hand, with two players sent packing.

Fabienne1988 shoved all-in UTG for 7,002 chips, Ovoman shoved his own stack of 13,793 into the middle, and then bmc.100. shoved 28,538 of his own chips! As you might expect with all that action, bmc.100. turned over As Ac, Ovoman flipped up Kh Kd, and Fabienne1988 held Kc Ah.

The board improved none of the player’s hands, and bmc.100.’s pocket rockets held up for a 50,000+ chip pot that gave him the chip lead and bounced Fabienne1988 out on the bubble and gave Ovoman 6th (woth a $650 + $50 ticket to a future finals).

The outcome was still very much up in the air at the third break, as unlike some recent finals that are finished by the third break, the action was still five handed:

bmc.100. 63,813
kabalajacek 31,776
londongent33 27,330
aalgruen 10,636
Puggy82 10,445

Puggy82 would bow out in 5th when his steal attempt with 4s 5s ran into aalgruen’s pocket 10s, giving Puggy82 a $650 + $50 ticket for 5th place.

aalgruen would be the next to fall by the wayside, finishing 4th ($845 plus a ticket) when his Ks 10d was dominated by bmc.100.’s Kh Qc, and all the chips going in pre-flop. bmc.100. continued his roll by knocking out londongent33 in 3rd ($2,550 plus a ticket), setting up a heads-up battle with kabaljacek.

bmc.100. held a big lead when heads-up play began, with about 117,000 chips to his opponent’s 27,000, and he pretty quickly sealed the deal, flopping top pair with 8h 10h on a flop of Tc 9s 9h, which held up versus kabalajacek’s As 3d.

kabalajacek collected a not-too-shabby $4,254 + a ticket for his second place finish, worthy of a round of applause, and an even bigger round of applause for bmc.100. for nailing down the next to last spot on Team PokerRoom.com for the 2008 Aussie Millions with his victory.
