Leaderboards!

Aug 16, 2007 11:02 AM. Post 1
Hi all,

Look what I just found... LINK. Apparently they have been there for years happy

Just kidding! They are new and so I would love to hear all your feedback on which ones you like and dont like, any others you would like to see added, which ones contain the most value (i.e. might have some prizes in the future). Most of the Leaderboards are based on this formula:

L + (√F*√2.5)*( √E*√3) / ((P+1)*1.5) * 100

Where:

L = Current score
F = Tournament fee
E = Entrants
P = Finishing position

Ladder formulas are based on a great idea provided by mr.typo on the tournaments feedback thread and as such has just been credited with a nice $100+8 ticket (as well as some he already received at the time).

Maths geeks are welcome to suggest improvements happy

We will hopefully have a full page up soon with details on the different leaderboards and formulas used but in the meantime, have fun looking around and I look forward to your feedback.

Regards,
GamesRep

FYI: Low is up to and including 20+2's, High is 20+2's and above.

Interesting.

One major flaw in the formula.

1) Buy in and number of entrants doesn't neccessarily equate to the size of the prizepool.

Ie. Using this formula, winning the $20 rebuy 10k on a Wednesday evening with 300 entrants and $12k in the prizepool would give the same score as winning a $20 freezeout with 300 entrants and $6k in the prizepool.

This might explain why Puggy82 doesn;t feature on the leaderboard angry

Another flaw is that it favours those who play loads of tournies.

For example, if a player plays a thousand tournies and comes dead last in 999, but flukes a win in one, he could be higher on the leaderboard than someone who has played 20 tournies, winning one and final tabling some others.

In short there are players VERY high up on the yearly leaderboard who are terrible at poker and have lost thousands of dollars in the last year.
