IchbinGott1 Boards the Vegas Express!

Apr 29, 2008 12:00 AM. Post 1
Another Saturday night and another 40 players registered on PokerRoom.com for the next instalment of the WSOP Finals action. Amongst the starters was x crash154 who was looking to improve on his final table finish in Friday nights WSOP Final.

The first two hours of play separated out the contenders from the pretenders and when it got down to the final nine players it was peeda01 best placed with 33,198 in chips. x crash154 made it to another final table, but was sitting on a short stack of only 5,770.

The Top 9;

peeda01 – 33,198 in chips
IchbinGott1 – 25,598 in chips
segy781108 – 13,450 in chips
willy1960 – 12,261 in chips Schelm27 – 9,786 in chips
sporty6xy – 7,438 in chips
Wieringen – 6,391 in chips
yealk – 6,108 in chips
x crash154 – 5,770 in chips

It didn’t stay nine-handed for long with Schelm27 making some nice moves and knocking out both Wieringen and yealk in quick succession. Sporty6xy then took out the short stacked x crash154 who was unable to better his 6th place finish from the previous night. Sporty6xy then became the victim when he was sent to the rail in 5th place by chip leader peeda01 and it got down to the final four with blinds at 500/1000.

The final four;

peeda01 – 47451 in chips
IchbinGott1 – 31316 in chips
Schelm27 – 30985 in chips
segy781108 - 10248 in chips

In previous WSOP Finals, the 500/1000 blind level has always provided plenty of action, and this final was to be no exception with IchbinGott1 winning three big hands in a row and moving into the chip lead with 62,216 in chips.

Schelm27 was bleeding chips and becoming dangerously low stacked, so looking down at pocket J’s he pushed all his chips into the middle pre flop. peeda01 made the call and turned over Ah 5c.

The flop brought the help peeda01 needed, with 2h 6s As putting him in the lead with a paired A. The board then ran out with Tc on the turn and 7c on the river ending Schelm27’s night and sending the play to three-handed.

segy781108 was now the short stack and under pressure with aggressive play from both IchbinGott and peeda01.

With the board showing Jd Kh Ah and 2400 in the pot, segy781108 made his move, leading out with a 2k bet. peeda01 turned up the heat by raising it up to 8k and forcing segy781108 to move all-in if he wanted to stay in the hand. segy781108 called and turned over Jh 6h for the under pair and flush draw. peeda01 showed Ad 9c putting him out in front with top pair.

segy781108 needed a heart or an J, but got neither on the turn when it showed 4c. The river then showed Td and peeda01’s flopped A’s held out to send segy781108’s to the rail in 3rd.

IchbinGott1 took a nice chip lead into heads up and, although peeda01 tried hard to win back some advantage, IchbinGott1 was able to maintain a lead of around 80k to 40k for the first 10 minutes of heads up play.

The blinds moved up to 600/1200 and it wasn’t long until peeda01 pushed all-in pre-flop. IchbinGott1 made the call and it was a tight race with IchbinGott1 showing Jh Kd against peeda01’s Ad 3h.

The flop showed Jd 6h 3d giving a little bit for both players, but IchbinGott1’s paired J put him in the lead.

Things were then turned upside down when the turn showed 3s giving peeda01 trips. There could only be two J’s left in the deck, and IchbinGott1 needed one of them on the river, but the poker gods must have been on his side when Jc spiked giving IchbinGott1 the full house, J’s over 3’s!

IchbinGott1 took the win and joined the growing list of WSOP Final winners to get their hands on the $17500 WSOP package. Commiserations to peeda01 who played so well for 2nd, but hopefully he can take the $500+$40 ticket her earned, (on top of $586), for 2nd place and go one step further in one of the many upcoming WSOP Finals!
