Connection problems in Day 1c

Jun 11, 2008 03:36 PM. Post 1
I am increasingly running into connection problems recently, so I've decided it's time to report it here.

On the most recent occasion it has been during Day 1c of the $100,000 freeroll. Several times the software stopped responding, and there was a message about trying to reconnect. Eventually the interface locked up completely, and I had to kill the pokerroom process and restart it to get back into the tournament. Other internet connections were not affected.

The answers to the questions you mention in your guidelines:

1. Windows Poker or Java Poker or both?

Windows Poker

2. Time and date?

11th June, 20:10 BST to 21:10 BST.

3. Any error messages?

Some messages about lost connection and trying to connect.

4. Do you have a firewall? If yes which one?

Standard Windows XP firewall.

5. Do you have a router? If yes does it have a built firewall/anti virus?

No router.

6. Anti-virus? Which one?

AVG.

7. Are you running other applications such as streaming video etc? If yes which ones?

I was running a Firefox browser. No streaming.

8. Tourney or cash game?

Tourney.

9. Windows only stats on or off?

The enable stats option was greyed out.

Hi Stackermoose,

Firstly sorry to hear about your connection problems. sad

The connection problem you are experiencing could be caused by various reasons. If a problem is isolated to your computer this generally means the problem originates from your computer as well.

Things it may be caused by are things like your internet connection not working properly, since this was the message that appeared. In fact it is difficult to provide a good answer as there are so many possibilities.

Some other things that you may need to check are things like your performance on your task manager, when you experience this connection problem. It may give you an idea what the problem is, if it is in fact originating from your computer. If your CPU usage is very high, check what processes are using most of it and do a google search of the name of the process, this normally tells you whether the program is a good one or something that can be removed. You can see your task manager by clicking the Ctrl, Alt and Delete buttons simultaneously.

Those are just a few things which could assist you in solving your problem. My best suggestion is definitely to contact our support centre, your matter can be sent to one of our technical support staff for a more in depth analysis.

Hope to hear some more feedback from you shortly.

Regards,
Remi

Well Remi, I run into disconnection problems fairly frequently with PokerRoom these days. The latest was yesterday (16th August) around 19:30 UK time. In general it seems to run into problems if you heave the the PokerRoom app running for a long time, especially if you are multi-tabling. This reeks of bad resource usage to me, most probably a memory leak. And I don't want to hear any of your "it's a problem at your end" ********. Other apps are fine, and the task manager shows a high % cpu usage by PokerRoom.exe when these problems hit.

I couldnt even GIVE away a refer a friend with the 10k reload! The ppl that have left, are not coming back.
