WHATS HAPPENED TO TEAM PLAY

Jun 17, 2008 06:22 PM. Post 1
Well i think its pretty obvious to everyone the new team schedule and buy ins are not working constant cancellations because of lack of teams is proof enough Fred that they need to be changed.I think we need to go back to the old times of between 3-6pm edt and maybe we could just have 4 guaranteed a week possibly 2 1000 guaranteed and 2 500 guarenteed the non guaranteed are a complete waste of time who wants to play heads up obviously no one.If things are not changed soon i fear we will lose team play completely and we dont want that to happen. When i joined tem play 3 months ago there were small issues about times and the occasional cancellation but alot more teams registered for events so obviously it worked better then, maybe a 2day 2 rounder 500 guaranteed monday and tuesday the same for wednesday and thursday a 2 day 2 rounder 1000 guaranteed friday and saturday and a 10000 guaranteed 3 rounder on sunday its simple and hopefully will bring more teams in to play again what does everyone think?

I, too, am in favour of going back to the "old" system of teamplay.

It drew more teams to play the events and there were very few cancellations. Now more games get cancelled than get played, simply because the requisite 4 teams do not sign up for them.

It's very obvious the new games aren't working and due to the lack of participation, the teams do not want them.

As I have previously stated, the days and times events are suggested are irrelevant to me, but not so to other team players, and this is what must be taken into account when scheduling times.

My 10 cents worth.

I also liked the old schedule much more than the new one. And there were a lot less cancellations during the old schedule.

Bring back the old one and add a few games of the new scedule to it and it should work just fine.

When it goes back to quality rather than quantity needed to play them, then more people will sign up.

Needing 8 people over two das to play is hard to do. 5 over two days maybe, but 5 over two rounds in one day was best in our teams opinion anyways. very_happy

Just saying what we think. very_happy Feel free to disagree!

FEEDBACK FOR TEAMPLAY

Jun 18, 2008 09:47 AM. Post 6
Fred,

I was one of the people who confirmed the schedule looked good and it did. Obviously it didn't work that way. So this isn't a slight on you Fred. You just have to try again happy

OLD SCHEDULE

$500 gtd. 2rounds 5entrants
R1 Monday 5pm EST
R2 Tuesday 5pm EST

$500 gtd. 2rounds 5entrants
R1 Monday 10pm EST
R2 Tuesday 10pm EST

$500 gtd. 2rounds 5entrants
R1 Wednesday 5pm EST
R2 Thursday 5pm EST

$500 gtd. 2rounds 5entrants
R1 Wednesday 10pm EST
R2 Thursday 10pm EST

$1000 gtd 1round 5entrants
Saturday 5pm EST

$1000 gtd 3rounds 6entrants
R1 Sunday 3:30 EST
R2 Sunday 4:30 EST
R3 Sunday 5:30 EST

The only problem with this schedule is the late events on Mon-Thurs. These would get max 3 entrants, but the min was 2 at the time so it was fine. So we should change those ones.

I don't like the $1000 gtd being 1 round 5 entrants either. I'd be fine with using the Sunday $1k gtd format and times, I think others would agree.

My suggestion.

NEW SHCEDULE

$500 gtd 2 rounds 5 entrants
R1 Monday 3pm EST
R2 Monday 5pm EST

$500 gtd 2 rounds 5 entrants
R1 Tuesday 3pm EST
R2 Tuesday 5pm EST

$500 gtd 2 rounds 5 entrants
R1 Wednesday 3pm EST
R2 Wednesday 5pm EST

$500 gtd 2 rounds 5 entrants
R1 Thursday 3pm EST
R2 Thursday 5pm EST

$1000 gtd 3rounds 6entrants
R1 Saturday 3:30 EST
R2 Saturday 4:30 EST
R3 Saturday 5:30 EST

$1000 gtd 3rounds 6entrants
R1 Sunday 3:30 EST
R2 Sunday 4:30 EST
R3 Sunday 5:30 EST

FEEDBACK PLEASE

Fred, I love the new $250+25 tournaments but there needs to be a gtd or added ammount. I don't want to play these HU and won't happy

Also, with the $3000 added I know this many gtds may not work. Maybe a poll on which gtds to scrap would help?

Thanks Fred. happy

Suf, your proposed new schedule looks good, however ...

IF all these Guaranteed events were kept to the same buyin, the same number of players and the same number of required 4 teams to run any given event, I cannot see PR paying out more than double what they would take in, excluding the rake.

PR would lose far too much money and they are losing a lot now on quite a few of their regular games, as evidenced by the drop in the Cannonball tournaments and the 4k NLHE played at noon (this used to be worth 5k).

The only solution that I can see is for more teams to enter the events, which I doubt will happen - we cannot get enough now for some of them to run.

So to sum it up we would need:

1. higher team buyins (won't work).
2. more players per event (teams are finding it hard enough now to get enough to play).
3. more teams required in order for the event to run.

It is a catch 22 situation and I hate to say this, but in my humble opinion teamplay is NOT what it used to be and doubt it ever will be again, and is on the way out (as much as I would hate to see it go).

Well, I disagree. This new schedule cuts the events by more than half. I assume we'll cut 2 of the $500 gtds because the currents schedule has 2 $500 and 2 $1k gtds.

This would be approximately $12k gtd and $3k added each month. Thats not much money for a multi-million dollar company to guarantee in an effort to get Team play going. Let's give it a go and find out wink
