greetings from the wsop

I finally got a laptop today (thanks Sam!) I won't bother you with stories about Vegas etc. Most things can be read elsewhere, and some things shouldn't be told at all lol. The Pokerroom staff are doing a fantastic job here, and it was nice to meet people I already knew such as Phil (thesheep), Puggy, Suze, Kristian etc., but also people I hadn't met before such as billybillard, Rochelle, Sam, Darth V., Stavros, Nick, BigWilson, WeeFatShug to name only a few.

As for the tourney itself. Well, it's tough lol! I managed to stay out of trouble for the first three sessions. With people like Olga Varkonyi and PokerStars Pro William Thorson at my table, a lot of action was guaranteed. We had one weak player at our table and he busted within the first half hour, doubling up Thorson and giving him the stack to bully the rest of the table. It sucked lol but anyway I was able to win more than I lost. After the dinner break the antes kicked in and it became difficult to maintain my chipstack as I had got all my good hands earlier when they didn't pay off. Thorson took out Varkonyi as well, which gave him even more power to dominate the table. I ran dry, and it annoyed me to see my chipstack fade away, so I decided to make a move with AJos from middle position. I raised preflop, and only one player called me. Flop came J73 rainbow. He checked, I bet, he called. Turn 6, same procedure. It was obvious he wouldnt fold. KJ maybe? I didn't know what to make of it tbh. Weird player he was. River K. He checked again. I considered going over the top and pushing the rest of my chips in but after 5 minutes, I was sure, it was a trap, so I checked the river. He had K3os lol. Oh well, it cost me 12k in total. A little while later Thorson lost his whole stack to another guy (ironically a PokerStars qualifier lol) whose stack went to over 100k. He used it wisely. None of us saw a flop for hours
sad
In the end, I was down to I guess 3500 chips, still waiting for a hand to move with, but I didn't get one. Half an hour to go, we were all moved to new tables, and luckily it was a much tighter one. I couldn't protect my blinds but I was able to pick up some myself so I didn't lose more chips. I was determined to either double up or go out, so I would at least be able to party a bit instead of coming back to the tourney for day 2 with a lousy stack. I went allin with AK and doubled up against AQ. With 5 minutes to play, the chipleader raised my BB and I went allin with 99 beating his 55, so I am on 15k now. Not great but could be worse. Plus I have nothing to lose on Tuesday so will be much more fun to play surely happy
