Is Team PokerRoom really Team Bwin?

Jul 7, 2008 08:13 AM. Post 1
After flicking through the photos in the WSOP blog, it looks to me as though "Team PokerRoom" is really "Team Bwin and PokerRoom", or maybe even "Team Ongame". Anybody know the true story? Just curious.

Players from both bwin and PokerRoom all have access to the Team-style Live Event qualifiers that we host. From the bwin side it is called bwin Team; from the PokerRoom side 'Team PokerRoom'. There is roughly an even split in the numbers of Team members from PokerRoom and bwin at the WSOP.

bwin and PokerRoom have a working relationship and co-operate on a few events such as the Champion Chip, 100K freerolls and the Bounty. bwin is very well known in Central Europe, especially in Germany where poker is just starting to get big. You may have seen the bwin logo before on the AC Milan and Real Madrid football kits.

bwin have a media deal with Bluff that allows them to get the interviews you see on the WSOP Live page. PokerRoom's relationship with bwin means we can get the clips too.

Quite a few PokerRoom players have made it into the WSOP Live clips. A quick look through and I know that interviewees Trevor, Rob, Dario and Phil all qualified via PokerRoom.com. I think many of you will have read a Pokah post or two from Phil. The grey shirt is a fairly good give away.

wink

Thanks for the info, Don, much appreciated. Do any of the other Ongame sites share the Team-style Live event qualifiers? I noticed at least one team member in a EuroBet t-shirt. That is why I wondered if it was really Team Ongame?

That's an interesting way of putting it. As I understand it bwin own PokerRoom (do I get bonus points for putting bwin in italics?).

Would it be possible for you to elaborate on the structure of the Ongame network? e.g. how many skin sites are there, who owns each of them, and how the whole Ongame thing is structured, especially in terms of who calls the shots.
