11BBs KJsuited UTG

Jul 16, 2008 05:42 AM. Post 1
I had this hand in the aussie daily, stacks were 20-30BBs average at table.
Do you fold and wait for a better spot or shove? Raising 3BB will lose me a quarter of my stack, so I think its either shove or fold and I elected to do the former. I ran into QQ and lost. My friend said it was a dumb shove.
What does everyone else do here?

My friend who is a top MTTer said he wouldn't have folded and would have elected for the go and go play. Raise pre, shove flop.
Thoughts on that?

I think it depends on the table dynamics, but in general I would probably wait for a better spot and also to be in a better position. If the table has been tight, then a shove's only purpose here is to steal the blinds because you are only getting called by a better hand and will most likely be dominated too. If the table has been loose, it is more likely that you will get called, but the best you can hope for is probably a flip against a smaller pp because its unlikely you'll be called by hands like k10 and jq.
I think the best play is to wait for a better spot, I know it may look a nice hand but as I said, at best you'll be in a flip and if you fold and the blinds go through you, you will still have fold equity when you shove in a better spot.

A lot of people have their favorite hand.

I dont...yet

But KJ is definitely my least favorite hand and prob one of the most over rated hands in pkr...after Ax

I would be looking to fold most of the time...very few occasions i might play it

I don't like it either, I think I just panicked, saw 10BBs and went shove. I realise now I still had fold equity over the other stacks if I waited. sad

Fold > Shove > Raise/call > Raise/fold, although last two pretty close.

Im folding here too (from this position) for mentioned reasons... Tbh I d rather shove T9 here and "secure" being live whilst making this move. Obv if you do this with this kind of hands one should shove QQ+ too.
