It's been said before, many times, and I'm going to say it again. I doubt I'll be the last and I doubt any of us will be listened to, but -

T$ really is the way to go.

Failing that, keeping the ticket expiry at 60 days. These are for valuable tourneys and I would have thought they would be making it more attractive for people to satellite in, not less... OK, so maybe they'd prefer you to pay the full whack in rake by buying in, but other sites are available and those who play in these tourneys tend to have pretty decent cash balances and generate plenty of rake. You really want to keep them as happy as possible..

This thread had everything. Crack pipes, conspiracy theories, pantomimes, the Trump. But the worst part is I actually thought it was a joke, or a diversion for somethin else that was lurking!, but there wasnt really too much drama about b4 this!

Just incase pr forgot. A reason we hav 60 days to use a ticket is also becoz sometimes you guys move an event forward a day or two (and sometimes you giv us a couple of weeks notice b4 you do, too wink ).

You see, pokerroom, somebody there thinks theyre smarter than they actually are! (dont feel bad, its common!). They didnt like the abuse they had been getting about the cc (both publicly and privately) so they decided to crack the whip, and make things even worse on us. Thats what it looks like. It doesnt look like this is a strategical plan to boost numbers into the cc etc. Infact, it looks like somethin sitting in my trash can at best.

But its OUR money pr, not yours! We actually won it! So technically, tickets should have no expiry, but we just put up with the 60 day thing!

Pokerroom, yous shot yourselves in the foot by encouraging these mad tilt donk fests, and scrapping many a guaranteed tourney. Its obvious yous are torn between customers and shareholders who would like nothing more than to turn the site into one massive slot machine. If yous want ppl to play the big events, ya's need to stop pushing the site into the slot direction, becoz the players you need to fill these seats, are off trying to qualify for some donkey island thing, or they are losing their money too quick in all the turbos.

Pokerrooms games shape ppls playing behaviours. Yous cant expect to be the best site with the biggest tourneys if there is nobody to play them! The type of ppl that want to buy-in big play at sites that cater for THEM. If the donks want to come along for the ride, thats just fine!

Ffs pr, yous hav casino room, why try and fk us here too?! happy

i haven't bothered to read this whole thing, so someone may have mentioned this, but pr actually make more money from people satelliting in than buying in because you pay rake to enter the quali, and then part of the quali prize pool goes towards the rake part of the ticket as well. so it's unlikely that they're trying to encourage people to buy-in rather than qualify. it's not like they're doing it for the players' benefit, and it surely can't be a technical reason or a cost involved with keeping tickets in accounts - the only explanation i can see is what i assume we've all conlcuded already: the whole reason for the shorter expiry dates is so more tickets will expire and pr won't have to honour them, thus making money from qualifiers without having to pay out the actual cash.

Unfortunately, there will probably be some logic in their madness, i recon.

They will probably come back and say the CC is going!!, or they will say- we appreciate your feedback, its been moved up to 30 days! very_happy (which also means the tourney is on the WAY out).

Pokerroom, if these tourneys are under threat, then just tell us! There is no need to change the expiry, coz Im sure you guys will exchange tiks when events are terminated anyway. This recent move was a very paranoid and non thought out decision!

mad Can we not have a mad tilt chumpchip instead?mad

Doomed.

Anyway, best case scenario:

madAmerican legislation regarding the safe harbours act changes.

madThey come flooding back.

madThe increase numbers means PR can rebuild and concentrate on being a premium site with nice structured serious poker tournaments.

I may be living in cloud cuckoo land but everyone has to have dreams.

Oh and what Bugz-E said to.

The change in expiry date is not a Network wide change it refers only to the following exclusive tournaments, the Champion Chip Final, the Bounty Final and the Team Final qualifiers. These events are only available at PokerRoom, bwin Poker and EuroPoker. Also the change is only related to qualifiers that spit out tickets to each of these finals and not to the lower qualification rounds.

Tournament dollars have been mentioned quite regularly as a fix and we would welcome the introduction of something similar on the Ongame Network. However tournament dollars are a relatively new feature in online poker rooms and need a certain level of contained liquidity to really work in relation to big guaranteed events - they also result in black markets. The Chip, Bounty and Live Events finals all carry substantial guarantees but they are only accessible to players from bwin Poker, PokerRoom and EuroPoker.

The change has a lot to do with the fact that for the Bounty, Team finals and especially the Chip, players are letting their finals tickets expire without playing. We thought that something should be done to fix this and the reduction of the expiry to a date closer to the time they qualified and the next available final was one option to raise awareness. At PokerRoom we will also now remind Chip ticket holders that they should register for the next final to avoid potentially losing their hard earned ticket by sending them a private message a few days before the final.

The need for a change is mostly in relation to the Chip - from the number of entrants month on month it doesn't appear to have captured the imagination of the number of players we had hoped for - however each and every month enough players have qualified for the $500K guarantee to be surpassed.

Ticket holders can always register for the next final as soon as it is visible in the lobby - as long as you have registered you are in the final regardless of the original expiry date on the ticket - so just like one poster said 25 days is somewhat arbitrary. We have also been considering the option of auto-registering finalist qualifiers to the next available final - this is done at certain other online poker rooms for specific events. If you know that you cannot make the final then it doesn't make sense to try and qualify for it.
There has been a general response that these changes are inconsiderate towards valuable customers and that by reducing expiry from 60 days to 25 days we are drastically limiting choice. A special case has also been made for those users that intended to play but for some unforeseen reason find they cannot make the game. I would urge players with these concerns to contact Customer Services who can respond to each individual case as required.

Cheers
Don

Thanx Don, for the reply.

Don...

We thought that something should be done to fix this and the reduction of the expiry to a date closer to the time they qualified and the next available final was one option to raise awareness...

But still your reasoning is off. What does it matter to PR if players dont use their tickets?

Nothing, it actually benifits PR IMO, as you get to keep the value of the ticket no questions asked.

All this does is RESTRICT players, nothing else. Limiting the choice for players to use their tickets does not benifit players in any way shape or form.

Tournament dollars (with no expiry date) are the answer to all your problems. They are not new in the online poker world. I could name two of the main poker sites, the two biggest poker sites, and most likely the two poker sites that have the most players and make the most money thats have had T$ or their equivalent for many years. On one of them sites you can even sell T$ to other players on the site, but i know Pokerroom will never be able to compete with these sites because you just dont care about your valued customers enough......
