goto13 is Going to Las Vegas - by Seth Shafer

Monday's WSOP online finals proved to be yet another packed house, with the max of 42 players turning out trying to take down the top prize of a $17,500 trip package to the 2008 WSOP Main Event.
As usual there were plenty of familiar faces in the field, including whassup x, Rozza_mite, lisaharvey, and stakks. Armeebus held the chip lead at the first break, with goto13 breaking out and wresting the lead away at the 2nd break.

When the final table was set goto13 was still in control and leading the way:

Seat 1: armeebus ($7,637 in chips)
Seat 2: Karl Rackie ($7,170 in chips)
Seat 3: Bobbuttens ($10,795 in chips)
Seat 4: Polkaprinz ($4,310 in chips)
Seat 5: Jsteam111 ($23,059 in chips)
Seat 6: cpm07 ($10,201 in chips)
Seat 7: stakks ($8,223 in chips)
Seat 8: goto13 ($28,093 in chips)
Seat 9: ibboten ($20,282 in chips)
Seat 10: Mariusz2000 ($6,230 in chips)

stakks was trying to improve on a runner-up finish in a previous online finals during the weekend but exited in 6th when her pocket kings ran into cpm07's pocket rockets. Mariusz2000 was eliminated in 5th, followed by cpm07 in 4th, with the following three players remaining:

Seat 3: Bobbuttens ($18,265 in chips)
Seat 8: goto13 ($38,923 in chips)
Seat 9: ibboten ($68,812 in chips)

Bobbuttens was the next to hit the rails, with another player running into pocket aces. Holding Jh 6c, Bobbuttens got all of his chips in on a flop of Jc 9c 8s, only to find himself up against goto13's Ah As, with the aces holding to knock out Bobbuttens in 3rd.

Heads-up action saw the remaining two fairly closely matched, with the $17,500 prize package on the line:

Seat 8: goto13 ($57,188 in chips)
Seat 9: ibboten ($68,812 in chip)

goto13 won a big pot when he rivered top pair to take the lead, and the end came just a few hands later on a seemingly dry board.

ibboten completed from the small blind and goto13 checked. The flop came 8c Kc 4h and both players checked.

The turn was the As, and suddenly fireworks erupted. goto13 bet 3,000, ibboten raised to 9,000, goto13 re-raised to 30,000, and ibboten shoved for his last 43,000 chips, which goto13 called.

ibboten flipped over 8s 4c for bottom two pair but found himself against goto13's Ac 4d, for a better two pair. ibboten needed an 8 on the river but the Ah fell instead, sealing the victory for goto13 and giving him the $17,500 trip to the 2008 Main Event, with ibboten collecting $1,253 + a ticket for his 2nd place finish.
