foxystong is the 2006 Poker Classic Champion after nudging out KILL U in heads-up play.
Ace high was enough to take the hand and the title, when fox's A/8 bested KILL U's King/3 with a board showing 4/2/4/6/Q.
It took almost 12 hours of play on day 2 to determine to the champ, a champ who takes home $239,383.75 plus the Gold card protector trophy (valued at $10,000)
After striking a deal with foxystong pre heads-p, KILL U goes home, via Amsterdam (he's taking a well earned eurotrip!) with a prize of $199,383.75!
A fantastic tournament, it has to be said. Great organization, great venue, great poker, and last but not least... a great winner!
Congratulations to all players for making the Poker Classic, 'THE' biggest event of 2006!

Adios! from Barcelona... OLE!!

KILL U: 971000

foxystong: 394000

Sunday, December 3rd, 2006 KILL U's set of 8s has just put samson49 out of the event. The man from Denmark take home $113,244.50 and leaves KILL U to battle it out in heads up play for the Poker Classic title.

The final 2 players in the tourney cut a deal splitting the $283038 prize money in half, apart from $40k, which will go to the winner along with the golden card protector.

A remarkable tourney for Team PokerRoom's KILL U. Remember he started the live phase of the Poker Classic in 42nd place, and has done wonders to make it so very far.

Another victim of the fox, Stewart531 bows out in a very respectable 4th place earning $99,034.

Sunday, December 3rd, 2006 Jimfromdownunder moved all in with about 121k to be called by foxystong. The flop was 7/3/9, jim showed A/Q and the fox flipped over A/9, giving him the edge and the hand. After a brilliant performance that we are all very proud of, jim takes 5th place and $84,970!

Foxystong is now up to nearly 500000. On a side note, I hear foxystong won over $200,000 in events at this year's WSOP. If he comes out on top tonight, then he'll be doubling up his year's winnings. No wonder the boy from Birmingham is planning to take a year away from poker after the Classic.

Sunday, December 3rd, 2006 Jimfromdownunder is now trailing at the back of the pack for the first time in the tourney and is showing visible signs of frustration. His stack is now at 161000. I could see him going all-on very shortly.

Sunday, December 3rd, 2006 foxystong goes all in (KK) and wins a big hand at the expense of davidp (AK) when nothing comes on the board. He now has a big time stack of.... Oh wait a minute he's just won another big hand and has become chip leader with 497000!

Sunday, December 3rd, 2006 6th place and $70,759.50 for the Irish poker veteran. On this occasion his Ace/8 was no match for samson49's Ace/King, especially when another King came out on the flop. Samson49 is now up to over 400000!

A few wireless issues at the Gran Casino has meant that we haven't been able to keep you updated over the last hour or so, but we're back and this is how the final table looks. We'll fill in the other gaps shortly...
1. jimdownunder 309000
2. Stewart531 290000
3. samson49 251000 (came back from 46000!)
4. Riverroe0 236000
5. KILLU 150000
6. foxystong 125000
Alas, we lost "Davidp18" courtesy of a big jim AK special. David finishes in 7th place taking back to the States a prize of $56,549!!
