badhulen Takes Some Bad Beats and Keeps on Ticking by Seth Shafer

Oct 2, 2008 The second Aussie Millions online finals was held Saturday at PokerRoom, with the winner taking down a massive $18,000 trip package to the 2009 Aussie Millions event in Melbourne. These online finals have been filling up well in advance of the tourney start and Saturday’s was no exception, with the field full and at max capacity days before the event began.

badhulen got out to an early at the first break and didn’t seem inclined to relinquish it, at the head of the pack at the second break and, you guessed it, the chip leader at the final table as well:

Seat 1: MickeMusxxx ($17,557 in chips)
Seat 2: badhulen ($33,859 in chips)
Seat 4: chewy1979 ($14,959 in chips)
Seat 5: c-biz-kid ($26,935 in chips)
Seat 6: Quallox82 ($4,490 in chips)
Seat 7: Jammania ($10,100 in chips)
Seat 8: alesig77 ($11,677 in chips)
Seat 9: Ralloele1 ($8,020 in chips)
Seat 10: nammer4life ($7,403 in chips)

With the field down to just five, badhulen still held the lead, but MickeMusxxx (who not only represented Team PokerRoom at the 2008 WSOP but cashed as well) was nipping at his heels:

Seat 1: MickeMusxxx ($42,467 in chips)
Seat 2: badhulen ($57,489 in chips)
Seat 7: Jammania ($11,900 in chips)
Seat 8: alesig77 ($8,354 in chips)
Seat 9: Ralloele1 ($14,790 in chips)

Ralloele1 would exit in 5th when his Ks Qh ran into MickeMusxxx’s pocket rockets, and alesig77 was the next to go in 4th.

Very short stacked, Jammania made his stand with Kd 9h, but badulen looked him up with Ad 9s and was well ahead, with his hand holding to bounce Jammania in 3rd place.

MickeMusxxx had been aggressively picking up chips when action was 3 and 4 handed, giving him a sizable chip lead when heads-up play began:

Seat 1: MickeMusxxx ($87,156 in chips)
Seat 2: badhulen ($47,844 in chips)

That lead wouldn’t last long, though, as badhulen came storming back to not only make up the deficit but to take a near 2-1 lead himself, when the final hand was dealt.

All of their chips found their way into the middle pre-flop, with MiceMusxxx in dominating position holding Ad Kc versus badhulen’s Ah Jh.

No one had ever accused the poker gods of being fair, though, as evidenced by the 4h 8h 7c Kd 6h board, with badulen rivering the flush to take down the Aussie Millions trip package. MickeMusxxx had to settle for a runner up finish worth $882 + a ticket to a future online finals.
