WSOP mania!

Apr 24, 2008 The WSOP mania continued on Monday night with another 40 players registering to play in the $500+$40 WSOP Final.

The nights action started thick and fast and before long it was down to two tables. Amongst the top 20 were four players who had already had high finishes in other WSOP Finals over the weekend. waner1 and _sandm4n_ both made it to the top 10 of two WSOP Finals, and petterke5 and belzebot22 both finished in the top 10 of the WSOP 100k Freeroll.

It was Acrobat13330 however who lead the top 20 with 15217 in chips and Mdanyflash was in 2nd with 13003.

An hour later there were only 10 players standing with matiu82 now in front with a commanding 25,150 in chips.

The Final Table;
matiu82 - 25,150 in chips
acrobat13300 - 15,647 in chips
Githead - 15,075 in chips
andi3001 - 14,634 in chips
belzebot22 - 11,695 in chips
Winni7777 - 10,120 in chips
waner1 - 10,040 in chips
halfday3 - 7,590 in chips
Doggyattore - 5,756 in chips
MRdanyflush - 4,293 in chips

Unfortunately for waner1, his third top 10 finish of the weekend didn’t translate into a win when he was the first to be busted on the final table, running into Winni7777’s pocket A’s.

When early chip leader matiu82 busted in 5th place it was down to 4, with top 10 100K Freeroll finisher belzebot22 still looking good sitting in third spot.

The final four;
andi3001 - 47,251 in chips
Githead - 36,387 in chips
belzebot22 - 30,582 in chips
halfday3 - 5,780 in chips

Four handed play didn’t last long however with short stacked halfday3 calling belzebot22’s pre-flop all-in, and a paired K was enough to get the job done for belzebot22.

It was down to three and it wasn’t long until another all-in showdown.

Githead lead out with a 3K bet pre-flop and belzebot22 then bumped it up to 15600. Githead didn’t have the stack to cover the raise, but called and pushed the remainder of his chips in the middle.

When they turned em’ over belzebot22 was the big pre-flop favourite with his Kh As all over Githead’s Ah Jc.

Githead was going to need some help to win the pot, but he didn’t get any on the flop with 4s 9d Ac coming out.

The turn then showed 9c and Githead’s outs were a J for the win, or an A or 9 for the split pot.

The river showed Kc giving belzebot22 top two pair and Githead’s night ended in third with $286 and $500+$40 ticket.

Knocking out Githead gave belzebot22 the chip lead going into heads up and after 10min of play the players reached the 3rd break with belzebot22 still holding a slender chip lead, sitting on 60311 in chips to andi3001’s 59689.

The two players chatted during the break but as soon as play resume it was back to business and a huge pot developed.

With 6k in the pot and the flop showing 6c 5h 5d andi3001 bet out 15K and belzebot22 called.

The turn revealed 2s and andi3001 bet out again, this time with 25K and belzebot22 again called.

The river then showed 7c and andi3001 checked the action to belzebot22, who pushed all-in. After going to the tank andi3001 folded and handed over a huge pot to belzebot22.

This hand gave belzebot22 a huge chip lead and with blinds at 8000/1600 andi3001 had to win some chips back fast to stay alive.

A couple of hands later andi3001 made his move and pushed all in pre-flop with belzebot22 making the easy call.

The showdown was andi3001 Ks Qh belzebot22 5h 5s in a classic coin-flip race.

The flop showed Ac 5c Kd giving belzebot22 trip 5’s and making the equation very hard for andi3001. Another K would give belzebot22 a full house so andi3001 would need to hit twice.

Tc came on the turn with no improvement, and then a Kc spiked on the river giving andi3001 trip K’s but belzebot22 the full house and the winner belzebot22 must have been a happy camper, after getting so close in the marathon 100K Freeroll he finally managed to get his $17500 WSOP package and booked his place in Vegas!

Congrats to ayliny, TurnDawg55, bjanko1, Kris_the_Whiz, moggl08 and belzebot22 who all managed to fight their way through the tough tournaments and win their spots in Team PokerRoom.com's 2008 WSOP Main Event Las Vegas odyssey!
