May 5, 2008 Friday kicked off yet another long weekend of WSOP action at PokerRoom, with the first of four WSOP online finals in four days, each of which would end with yet another player adding their name to the Team PokerRoom.com roster for the 2008 Main Event.

31 players turned out to battle for the guaranteed first prize of a $17,500 trip to the 2008 WSOP, including THEASH (who represented Team PokerRoom.com at last year’s Main Event) and billybillard, who cashed at the 2007 Five Diamond Classic at the Bellagio.

admiral ph held the chip lead at the first break and refused to relinquish it, going into the final table as the chip leader as well:

Seat 1: Lyngman86 ($6,620 in chips)
Seat 2: haemmer81 ($13,153 in chips)
Seat 3: King_Dirk ($10,010 in chips)
Seat 4: russchampio ($3,550 in chips)
Seat 5: BigBexus ($4,295 in chips)

Seat 7: wcpaco ($8,355 in chips)
Seat 8: THEASH ($9,855 in chips)
Seat 9: admiral ph ($24,705 in chips)

It’s usually a bit of a curse to be the early leader in a tournament but someone apparently forgot to tell admiral ph that, as he knocked out THEASH when action was four-handed (AQ versus 1010, with a Q on the flop to give admiral ph the hand) to expand his lead even further.

After wcpaco knocked out haemmer81 in 3rd, the heads-up battle was set, with admiral ph trying to pull off the impressive feat of a wire to wire victory, and wcpaco in need of a miracle comeback to deny him:

Seat 7: wcpaco ($17,113 in chips)
Seat 9: admiral ph ($75,887 in chips

No miracles were in store, though, as admiral ph cruised to a victory when wcpaco came over the top of a pre-flop bet and shoved all-in, with admiral ph making the call and tabling As Kc, which had his opponent, once again, crushed as wcpaco was holding Ah Qd. The board ran out a harmless Js 5h 6h 2s 7s and the latest member of Team PokerRoom.com heading to Vegas in July is admiral ph, with wcpaco collecting $566 + a ticket to a future online finals for his 2nd place finish.

Congrats to all the players who turned out to send yet another player to join Team PokerRoom.com in Vegas for the trip of a lifetime at the 2008 WSOP.
