Bumi3 Won’t Have to Bum a Ride to Vegas for the WSOP - by Seth Shafer

Jun 5, 2008 Monday's WSOP online finals at PokerRoom drew another big crowd of 40 players, all vying for the top prize of a $17,500 trip package to the 2008 WSP that includes airfare, lodging, and entry into the Main Event.

rockspider76 was the leader at the first break and was still clinging to the lead at the second break, trailed closely by whassup x and Stakeajake. When the final table was set, it was whassup x that was in the lead:

Seat 1: Bumi3 ($18,627 in chips)
Seat 2: Gutenburg1 ($9,238 in chips)
Seat 3: rockspider76 ($10,867 in chips)
Seat 4: whassup x ($18,799 in chips)
Seat 5: alain 21 ($10,251 in chips)
Seat 6: Stakeajake ($12,612 in chips)
Seat 8: jisman ($8,714 in chips)
Seat 9: SCORPIOS2 ($8,791 in chips)
Seat 10: monniemaker ($9,651 in chips)

Unlike some of the finals that have been finished before the third break, there were still six players in the mix at that point:

Seat 1: Bumi3 ($20,259 in chips)
Seat 3: rockspider76 ($46,596 in chips)
Seat 4: whassup x ($10,799 in chips)
Seat 5: alain 21 ($23,004 in chips)
Seat 6: Stakeajake ($7,712 in chips)
Seat 8: jisman ($11,630 in chips)

When the field has been narrowed to three, the stacks shaped up like this:

Seat 1: Bumi3 ($39,151 in chips)
Seat 3: rockspider76 ($44,215 in chips)
Seat 6: Stakeajake ($36,634 in chips)

rockspider76 exited in 3rd, getting all of his chips in pre-flop with Bumi3; rockspider76 held the Ah Js and found himself racing with Bumi3's pocket deuces. The board ran out 9h 7d 6d Ts 7h, with Bumi3's pair of twos holding up to eliminate rockspider76 in 3rd.

That gave Bumi3 a huge lead when heads-up play began, about 103,000 to 16,000, and it wasn't long before he added the last remaining chips to his stack. Stakeajake was forced to shove his short stack in with Kh 8h but ran into Bumi3's As 3h, with an ace on the flop sealing the victory for Bumi3.

Congratulations to Bumi3 for taking down first prize and the $17,500 trip to Las Vegas, as well as to Stakeajake for his runner up finish worth $586 + a ticket to a future online finals.
