VikboBosse Takes the Checkered Flag at Oschersleben - By Daniel Willis

Sep 22, 2008 The fifth leg of PokerRoom’s Race Trophy competition was recently held in Oschersleben, Germany. With just one stop left on the circuit in Monza, the clock was ticking for all of the PokerRoom qualifiers at Oschersleben, with just two chances left to win their seat to the $500,000 Guaranteed finals in Vienna.

The 8 PokerRoom qualifiers at Oschersleben had each won all expenses paid trips to the FIA WTCC race there, parlaying their poker skills into a dream weekend of fun, racing, and poker. Each had won their trip through either free online tournaments or Sit n Go leaderboard contests, so each player was on a freeroll for the action-packed weekend.

As at all of the previous Race Trophy circuit stops, PokerRoom spared no expense when it came to showing the players a great time, with champagne and fine meals abounding, as well as nights out on the town (including a healthy dose of karaoke!). All the fun, though, was just a preamble for the real action, where the players squared off track-side to see who would emerge the winner and take down a seat in the $500,000 guaranteed finals.

Not only was a lot of money potentially on the line, but the action was filmed by EuroSport for later broadcast as well, adding yet another element of tension when the players squared off at the poker table. Here was the lineup, which featured quite the international crew:

Early action was careful and cautious. But the blinds began to take their inevitable toll and players began dropping out. When just two players were left standing, it was VikboBosse and IntraVnus left to battle it out heads-up, with VikboBosse holding a 3-1 chip lead when heads-up action began.

In the end VikboBosse’s chip lead proved to be too much, with IntraVnus knocked out in second when his pocket queens couldn’t hold against VikboBosse’s Ac 3c, with an ace on the flop sealing the win for VikboBosse.

With his victory, VikboBosse (who is a factory worker and father of five boys back in Sweden) became the fifth player to grab a seat in the $500,000 Guaranteed. The finalists will be joined by one last player, the winner from the last semi-final Race Trophy event in Monza, and then the field will be set, with all six finalists taking aim at the $285,000 1st prize.
