Grand Tournament VI Winner Speaks Out

Mar 17, 2006 Grand Tournament VI held over the weekend of February 11th and 12th was a record breaking success. 705 entrants battled away over two days to win a slice of the incredible $705,000 prizepool!

At the end of the intense competition, one player claimed the victory and an amazing $169,200. That player was Ozzy_87.

He was kind enough to tell PokerRoom.com a bit about himself, his background and his experience of this fantastic competition.

”I have been playing poker for about a year and a half now. I am a professional poker player and play on many of the online sites. I learned poker through different mediums such as from friends of mine who are talented poker players, reading poker forums, and most of all from playing and learning by trial and error.

”I have experience of big game tournaments having finished in 6th place at the live WPT Bahamas event, where I won $177,200. As well as that I’ve had many smaller wins on different poker sites.

”I heard about Grand Tournament VI through my friends and various poker forums where I keep in touch with the poker community.

”The reason I believe I won was probably my experience and skill in poker, combined with some good luck throughout the tournament. I think this particular tournament was great because of its player friendly blind structure, although I do prefer antes in the later rounds.

”During the match there were a few key moments that contributed to my success. I was very happy when I doubled up with my J7 against AK, because I knew if I got a hold of a decent amount of chips I would be able to bully my way to the final table, which I eventually did.

”During the hand of the quad 7s, I felt like I was going to get paid off because the player was sick of me bullying him out of every hand, so I was very grateful to flop a set in the hand. When broonie2 caught a flush on the river against me when I flopped a straight, I didn't get upset at all, because it was a very small portion of my stack and I was still the chip leader.

”I don't have plans on spending the money on anything special and I have no comments about the final at this time except that the tournament was great, I hope it will continuously grow and I look forward to playing Grand Tournament 7. ”

Congratulations to Ozzy_87, and make sure you keep an eye out for the next Grand Tournament, exclusively at PokerRoom.com.
