Sunday saw another running of one of PokerRoom’s exciting new tournaments – The Bounty – get underway, with 1,192 players turning out to take their shot at glory. Well, glory, and a ton of cash that was up for grabs, including 1st prize of a $26,500 trip package to a major live poker event in London.
jacobst was at the head of the pack at the first break, giving way to frapil1 at the second break. Tournament regular -Rex Cramer- was the leader at the third break, with Svihak L. surging to the top at the next break.
When the field was trimmed down to nine players remaining, though, there was yet another leader, JK2718, sitting atop the field:
Seat 1: xxdeluxe10xx ($51,125 in chips)
Seat 2: JK2718 ($472,301 in chips)
Seat 3: Mike-Lowrey ($138,418 in chips)
Seat 4: lupobubu ($16,328 in chips)
Seat 6: HitDaRoad2 ($328,337 in chips)
Seat 7: Svihak L. ($391,588 in chips)
Seat 8: dilbert32 ($132,616 in chips)
Seat 9: Rozza_mite ($42,899 in chips)
Seat 10: g.adsk94 ($214,388 in chips)
It appeared to be destined to be JK2718’s day, as not only did he hold the chip lead when action was four-handed, but knocked out two players in a single hand. Here were the players involved, their chip stacks going into the hand, and what each player was holding.
JK2718 ($752,047) - Ac Ad
Svihak L. ($715,353 in chips) – Kd Jh
g.adsk94 ($116,263 in chips) – Qh 10h
On a flop of 9d 7d Qd (and a min-raise from JK2718 and two calls pre-flop), g.adsk94 shoved all-in, with the other two players calling.
The 6d on the turn got the rest of the chips in, with JK2718 and Svihak L. going to war, as each held a flush, nut flush versus 2nd nut flush.
The river was the meaningless Qc which gave JK2718 a big lead going into heads-up action with HitDaRoad2 (who had to be overjoyed to see two players get knocked out, jumping up two spots in the money payouts).
Seat 2: JK2718 ($1,583,663 in chips)
Seat 6: HitDaRoad2 ($204,337 in chips)
The end came quickly and, fittingly enough, JK2718 was once again the beneficiary of pocket rockets. HitDaRoad2 shoved all-in preflop with 9c 9h but found himself up against JK2718’s Ad As, and the aces held up once again for JK2718 to seal the victory and take down the top $26,500 prize.
As always, congrats to all the winners and to everyone who took part in yet another successful Bounty tournament, which provides the best of all worlds as far as offering bounties for knocking out selected players, a top prize of a trip to a major live event, and plenty of cash for the rest of the other money winners.
