OUR NEW SECURITY MEASURES

 

PokerRoom.com is an ever expanding global brand. We feel it's important not only to meet global governing legislation… but to exceed it.

Our new security package:

  • You will now use your email when logging into PokerRoom.com and all our games.
  • You are required to change your password on a regular basis.
  • Your nickname will still be used as your name at the tables and in Pokah.


Security Enhancements Q&A

I have logged into PokerRoom.com and a new page has popped up asking me to change my details. Should this be happening?
- Yes. All PokerRoom.com players will be required to change their details as we bid to further enhance the security for all players on our site.

Why is PokerRoom.com making these changes?
- Our new package not only gives you the very latest in online security, but also brings us in line with other prominent online communities in offering you the ability to simply log in using your existing email account. Not only does this enhance your personal security but also offers improved usability.

What do I need to do to access the games on PokerRoom.com?
• Step 1 – You log in the first time using your regular nickname and password (either through the website or Windows Download Client ).

• Step 2 –You will be prompted to complete an online form which requires a change of password and the completion of a Security Code.

• Step 3 – A Security Code will be sent via secure mail, to your inbox.

Note: The browser from which you are logged in to must remain open, so you should check your email using another browser or program. If you close down the original browser, the security code sent will no longer be valid and you will have to repeat the process from Step 1 and request a new (valid) security code.

• Step 4 – Simply complete the online form.

• Step 5 – From now on you will use your email together with your new password to log in to PokerRoom.com and all our games.

• Step 6 – You are required to update your password on a regular basis.

As a Windows Download Client user, will I be prompted to update these details from the client?
- Yes. Windows Download Client users can also update their accounts directly from the client without having to launch the browser and going to www.PokerRoom.com. After their first login with their regular Nickname and password from when the new security enhancement has been launched, they will be prompted to complete the form which requires them to update their password.

Point to note: If you're Windows Download Client session has expired and won’t accept your regular nickname and password, please close down the client and restart. On restart you will be prompted with the form to change your password.

I closed the window when it popped up, can I still change my details?
- Yes, of course. Simply login again with your Nickname and password and the form will re-appear again. However it is important to note that each time you login a new code will be sent to your email address. You must use the latest code you have received to successfully update your account details.

I haven’t received the email containing the code, what do I do now?
- If you have not received the email within 5 minutes of logging in, be sure to check your SPAM filter and add support@PokerRoom.com to your address book. If you are still experiencing difficulties receiving the email please contact support.

The email address you have sent the code to is old and no longer in use. How can I retrieve this code?
- If you no longer have access to the email in your account, please contact support.

What must I do if the code doesn’t work?
- It is important to note that every time you login using your Nickname and password a code will be sent to your email address. Only the latest code will allow you to successfully update your details. Once you have successfully updated your details, you will no longer be required to use the code. The next time you login to PokerRoom.com you will use your email address and updated password.

Why is PokerRoom.com now requesting that I use my email address and password to login to access the games?
- To further enhance PokerRoom.com’s commitment to our players, we are adding an extra layer of security to strengthen your safety online. In the ever evolving arena of internet gaming we must ensure that we are equipped to offer you the safest and most secure atmosphere whilst playing our games. The result of this enhancement is that all players are required to login using their registered email address and password.

Why must I log in with my email address?
- PokerRoom.com wishes to align with the very latest industry standards. Using the email address as a login further authenticates our players and also ensures that your email address is kept up to date at all times.

Will other PokerRoom.com players be able to view my email address?
- No. Your email address is simply used to login and access the PokerRoom.com website. As always, it will only be your nickname that will be visible to other players.

Why do I have to change my password?
- We would like to ensure that all PokerRoom.com players are compliant with the latest requirements for password verification. Furthermore, we will require that players change their password on a frequent basis, from now on.

What are the requirements for the new Password?
- Your new password must differ from those used previously. Choose a password that you will use when logging in. Please note that for security reasons, your password must be between 8 and 12 characters long and contain both letters and numbers. Please note that all passwords are case sensitive. Your password cannot be identical to your nickname or your email.

Why is it so important that I must change my password now?
- It is imperative to PokerRoom.com that we stay ahead of the game in terms of safety and security for our players. Our new security package places PokerRoom.com at the cutting edge of the latest security techniques.

Will my Nickname remain the same?
- Yes, nothing has changed with respect to your Nickname. You are still not permitted to change Nickname.

What happens if I choose not to change my password?
- All PokerRoom.com players are required to change their password. To access the games and features on PokerRoom.com you must complete the online form. If you experience any difficulties completing the form or require any further assistance, please contact support.

I’m registered for a tournament that starts in 10 minutes and I haven’t retrieved the code.
- All players must complete the form to access the games. If you are having any difficulties completing the form, please contact Support immediately. If there is a delay in registration that leads to an expiration of a tournament ticket, PokerRoom.com will ensure that you are suitably compensated for any loss incurred.
