rocketjim and pylon19 Come Up Big in the Bounty by Seth Shafer

Nov 14, 2008 The latest edition of one of PokerRoom's biggest and boldest tournaments -- the Bounty -- was held last Sunday, November 9th, with the usual array of amazing prizes up for grabs. $18,000 trip packages to the Aussie Millions, thousands of dollars in cash to the top finishers, bounties for knocking out selected players, you name it, the Bounty has it.

1,166 runners turned out for November's edition of the Bounty, with the top two finishers taking home a load of cash and each winning $18,000 Aussie Millions trip packages. Leaders in the early going included rinaMaria, stezamp, Schoissi, enthyke, and -stiggel-. As far as other notable names making some noise in the early going, former Team members KristapsK3 and -loudon- were both near the top of the leaderboard at various points during Sunday's action.

When the final table was set, though, it would be a sea of fresh faces, all battling it out to survive until just two were left standing:

rocketjim and pylon19 would make the biggest moves of the players at the final table, both chipping up nicely to put themselves in great position when action was five-handed, with pylon19 in the overall chip lead:

baverel17 would bow out in 5th place ($3,952) when his Ac Jh couldn’t hold versus rocketjim’s Ks 7s, with a 7 on the flop sealing the deal. Gletzi1 was next to go in 4th ($5,929), with his As 7h falling to pylon19’s pocket tens.

That left just three players standing, with two guaranteed Aussie Millions trip packages and a wad of spending money, while the third would have to settle for just cash.

The trip bubble burst just three hands into three-handed play, with Granolaatkit ultimately left on the outside looking in. He shoved all-in pre-flop with As 6d but was called by pylon19, who tabled Ah Qh for the lead in the hand. That lead held up, with the board helping neither player, and Granolaatkit was knocked out in 3rd place ($6,917).

With both pylon19 and rocketjim guaranteed an Aussie Millions trip package, all that was left to play for was the extra $3,500 or so in cash the winner would take home. And that winner was ultimately pylon19, who won the race when his Qd Jd outran pylon19’s pocket nines to nail down 1st place.

For his 1st place finish, pylon19 collected $6,918 + a $18,000 Aussie Millions trip package, with rocketjim also taking down a $18,000 trip package as well as $3,458 in cash to sweeten the deal.
